I have worked as a nurse consultant in LTC all across central Ky and each facility I worked in the utilized NP's and I think they are almost a must. I never heard an objection to them being there by any nurse.

What F Tag has to do with discharge regulations? We are not dual certificated, we have 48 LTC beds and 22 Skilled beds, when a skilled patient is no longer skiled but requires LTC our facility says you can not make them leave so we now have our skilled unit filled up with LTC patients except for 4 skilled patients and 2 empty beds. How do I get administration to uderstand that we can force the issue of making a patient leave when they are no longer skilled. HELP.

MDS/LTC nurses, need help re: RAP
I would not go to the expense of getting an attorney, I have been doing admissions under Medicaid for 16 years and I've never seen a person denied Medicaid that fits the description that you gave of your mother. But than again I live in KY and it may be different in your state.

Self-Employment
I sent a letter to all the nursing homes within a 75 mile radius of where I live, saying what I specialized in and that I would like to work on a as needed bases. As they contacted me I made appointments with them and quoted a salary to them, if they accepted than I worte up a contract and we both signed it. Now each of thoses facilities call me and if I am available that I go to work for them. Each time a new job is started I sign a new contract saying what my rate of pay is and the length of time I will work. I set my salary sort of high. I try to figure how much their nurses would get paid if they didn't take the benifits plus $8.00 an hour for any extra expence that I may occur. If I don't add on the $8.00/hour and I have to stay out of town they they pay me so must a day expence for motel and etc. Hope this helps.

Self-Employment
I have been an independent nurse for about 2 years, I just joined NAIN about 2 months ago, they offer ideals and support. I am a MDS Nurse and I go from nursing home to nursing home either as an Interim MDS Nurse or just to relieve someone on vacation or maternity leave or for what ever reason. I really like being independent, that was I can take as much time off as I want to. :balloons:

ANA and NIC
I have 2 questions 1) What is the Nursing Intervention Classification system? 2) Does ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice describe the care planning process as it applies to Long Term Care, Acute Care and Critical Care and Ambulatory or just Acute Care.
