  1. I have read most of the replies on the post and am completely amazed. I can understand the concern expressed in regards to salaries of the CRNA's because we all have bills to pay and families to support. However I am shocked no one seems to appreciate the help that this bill will provide to those who are not as fortunate as to make 60k a year yeah we all worked hard to get where we are, but everyone's circumstances in life is merely that "their circumstance". As care giver's who hopefully went into the field for what they could do to help others first and financial stability second some of these replies seem self indulgent. Secondly, the figures and numbers expressed are highly skeptical to say the least, as evidenced by the post by wtbcrna and based of what I read in the monthly journal released by the AANA who strongly support the "Health Reform Bill". This is one of the few countries that it appears we seek to be MD's, nurses, or CRNA's for profit first instead of to spread healthier practices to our fellow americans through education and expceptional care. Just in case anyone was unaware you already take a cut in pay, when you pay that increasing insurance coverage amount caused from the misuse of ER's and etc. At least with this bill eventually those who are able to afford insurance will be required to cover themselves, decrease the costs for those struggling to maintain coverage and those who are unable will be given the assisstance they need. Hopefully the next step will be to promote prevention and maybe we will become a healthier country, afterall what good is 180k if you die from a MI!
  2. Run dont walk to valley.........just my opinion
  3. I am also Nigerian I will be starting CRna school 2009. My father's family is also from Imo state.
  4. Hello, I recently made a difficult decision to withdraw from my anesthesia school because it just was not the right fit for me, I felt like I would be doing myself and my future patients a deservice if I continued. The environment just was not conducive to learning, without going into details. My gpa is great and I left in good standing. I was wondering if any one has made this decision and reapplied to a different school and if so, what was the outcome. Thanks,
  5. are you in the akron vacinity, b/c i have not received on yet and was told that one was sent.

  8. If your heart is in it your dedicated and this is the only viable choice then YOU CAN DO IT! I know people who've accomplished it.
  9. Just wanted to know if there are any individuals out there applying to Akron's anesthesia program, any word yet as far as interviews?
  10. thanks for clarifying that viking girl. Because I also thought it was vt or vfib, but it does make sense that the MOST common to occur would be PVC's:yeah:
  11. Akron Interview permalink Hello, I would like to get some help from anyone who might know about the interview questions at akron, if you have interviewed or know some one who did. What questions were you asked? I was told that they test drug knowledge, but do they expect you to know dosages as well. Every little bit helps. Thanx
  12. Jls189, Thanks for the insight, do you know specific questions they asked?

  14. Thanks be to God I finally got in to anesthesia school. Then it starts setting in, How I'm I going to pay for this again:o ! I looked over the sticky and found tons of available private loans. ( very helpful sticky!) My question is for those who have had experience in obtaining loans for CRNA school. How much is enought?? I dont want to borrow to much and owe everyone when done. Can someone, anyone tell me what factors they considered and how much you borrowed form Finaid and Private loans total. Any regrets? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!:trout:
  15. I have reviewed frequently asked questions for interviews and since there seem to be a few RRTs on here maybe you will be of great assistance. Anyway, I was wondering what are considered the basics of vent settings what are we expected to know about ventilator settings inside and out for CRNA interviews. ( also those who have had interviews and have insight on this please feel free to respond as well). Thanks in advance!:monkeydance:
  16. When is your interview, what other schools did you apply to if any? I will be applying to U of M flint as well so if you could please let me know what kind of questions your asked. Best of luck!
  17. Thanks for your replies, i will take them into account.
  18. I have two questions: 1) I was considering applying to schools in Florida, you know the nice weather blaze not bad.... but the one major thing holding me back is the weather, for those who are applying or will be going to a schools in Florida are hurricanes as frequent as portrayed? 2) I have heard people say they got recs. from Crna's and Anesthesiologists how,did you all accoplish that because I encounter them only on occasions when they are transporting patients to the unit. Are these recs from people shadowed, because I was under the impression recs have to be from someone who has worked side-side and clinically knows your capabilities. Thanks in advance for all replies.
  19. I have heard some people state that they have gotten rec. letters from CRNA's, and Anesthesiologist; how was this accomplished because, i don't typically work side-by-side with with them other than when they transport pts. from Sx, how did you all ( for those who did) accomplish that? Was it from shadowing or what, because most of the recs. ask about clinical skills.
  20. I have been preparing to take the GRE but find that I'm off with the math, I mean I still remember the content , but I am having trouble getting acquainted with the quantative comparison section, does anyone have something that they did that helped. Is there anywhere I can get a bunch of QC practice questions. I think if maybe I do a drill of them I will get better used to thinking in that context. I am also taking the course through Kaplan. Please give me some advice. HEELP!
  21. congratulations to all recently accpeted individuals, I will also be applying to the UC program can any of you all tell me what type of questions they were asked during interviews. Also if you do not mind your stats.
