  1. I didn't mean to offend anyone I think LPN are phenomenal!! Its just that I went to school for 4 years to get a BSN degree and I'm very dissapointed that I will not be able to receive my degree that I worked so hard for. I want to say thank you for all the support and understanding. To all the LPN and RN out there, thank you especially for your feedback and advice. I realize that at the end of the day the most important thing is to give my best me to everyone I come in contact with and continue to always strive for excellence!!
  2. I'm in the state of Maryland.
  3. Unfortunately, my school doesn't offer any remediation. Trust me I would do anything just to have the option of taking my boards. I spent over 100,000 dollars at that school, the loan companies want their money and now I have to have another plan to start paying them. My mother has already talked to some Nurse Attorneys and they are looking into this. In the mean time I'm determined to make the best out of this situation and am going to trust God to work this out. However, I just feel like I might as well take the LPN test and let all that studying have been in vain.
  4. I would love to take Hesi again, but they will not allow me. I took it 8 times my last score was 880 and I needed a 900 to pass. My other classmates passed on the 7th time and technically that was suppose to be the last time. It upsets me because I do have loans to pay and can't afford to still be working as a tech, that is why I'm looking in to become a LPN so I can at least make more money.
  5. I just completed a four year BSN program but because I can't pass Hesi, I was told by my proffesors that I could either get my LPN or go to accelerated program. I'm very dissapointed but I'm trusting that God has a better plan for me and it doesn't stop here. I'm interested in taking the LPN test because I have spent so much time studying for my Hesi Exam, that I feel like that knowledge shouldn't just go down the drain. However, I'm from MD and I've been told by several people that LPN are very limited in their work and mostly just work in nursing homes. I really would like to work in a hospital setting if possible. I'm also interested in knowing what the LPN test is like, because this is all new to me. Please share your thoughts and any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
  6. Thank you so much!!! I appreciate that! your post just made my day!!
  7. I did my precepting in the er at Huntsville Hospital and at first I found it very overwhelming, I guess because it was a totally new experience. However, I had a great preceptor that helped me overcome my timidness which I quickly learned that I had to be more assertive in my approach. I have to admit sometimes I felt like I would burst into tears but after the second week my confidence began to grow. I learned to do EKG, hook up patients to the monitor and my preceptor constantly drilled me on various facts and always explained every procedure and made me explain things back to him. I realized that as long as you have a positive and teachable spirit, you stand to gain a lot. I am working as a tech in the er at Georgetown and absolutely love it! they were so impressed with my willingness to learn and take initiative that they want to hire me as soon as I pass my hesi exam. So remember to always do your best and never stop asking questions!! let me know how everything works out for you.
  8. Sorry I'm so late responding back. I didn't realize evolve could give us a remediation just based on what we got wrong on the test, that's great to know. I need to run this by our instructor being that they must give special permission (so ridiculous). I have been asking forever if the school can give an access code so my classmates and I can order the practice tests and they seem to drag their feet on this matter, it's so frustrating. I know you may be discouraged and that is exactly how I felt the this third time, I even managed to shed some tears. However, I realized that I must keep going and I'm to close to the finish line to call it quits. We can do this the world is in dire need of great nurses like us, we gotta give it all we got and more. So don't be discouraged for joy comes in the morning and these trials will not last for long. I look forward to talking to you soon nurse!!
  9. I believe you have to have 15 posts and then you can send a pm. I look forward to hearing from you!! Have a fabulous day!!
  10. Hi, I took the hesi exit for the third time in Sept and failed with a 816 and I'm currently studying to for the fourth test Dec 18. My school is currently paying for us to do kaplan online which gives us access to the qbank. A friend of mine took kaplan and passed the third time with it. She said the kaplan decision tree and lots of prayer helped her. I'm excited about taking the test again with this new found knowledge and can't wait to share my testimony. I reccomend that you check into the Hurst Review, which is good in helping you get the concepts of every system, my friend said the hurst videos really helped her also. Kaplan is expensive but since I've been using it, it is worth the money. If your unable to get kaplan right away get a saunders book and read and do the questions after each chapter. The key is being consistent when doing your questions and learning from the rationalle even if it's right. Looking back when I was studying for the third exam, I was not consistent everyday and that could have made a big difference in the 84 points I needed to pass. Hang in there Nurse!!! remember your day of victory is coming soon. Continue to pray and have faith for God will see you through!! I can't wait to hear your victory story!!!!
  11. thank you soooo much for that advice! Congratulations!! what an awesome score!!
  12. I took my hesi exit yesterday and failed for the third time. I received 816 and need a 900 to pass for my nursing department. I always seem to be able to narrow it down to two answers but always pick the wrong answer between the two. I feel very frustrated and just want so badly to be a nurse. I know I would be a great nurse and there is nothing more that I would rather do. If anyone will give me any advice on how to maximize my study time and what sources; I would greatly appreciate it. Any advice on how to set up a schedule so that every area can be covered would be great also.
  13. I haven't taken the nclex yet, however you should look into the Hurst Review it really helps with content and if you can't do a live review you can do it online. I also would recomend the saunders book if you don't have it. Kaplan offers a free practice test that will show your weak areas so I would do that and use it as a gage on what to focus on. Take it one day at a time and remember to pray because prayer does change things. You can do this nurse!!! people are counting on you to make a difference!! I will continue to keep you in my prayers and can't wait to hear your success story!
  14. My situation is totally different from yours but I just wanted to say hang in there and don't ever give up. God has a special plan for your life and this is only a test that you will get through. If you get a moment read Jeremiah 29:11, everytime I read that passage it gives me such hope to keep pressing on and never give up achieving my goal for becoming a nurse. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
  15. Congratulations!!!
