  1. Hello Friend06 We have a few days off between sessions. 1 week for Easter, almost 2 weeks between spring and summer session, 2 weeks between summer and fall semester, 2 days off for Fall break and Thanksgiving weekend.
  2. Hello FutureNrsJaren, you can't work while in the BSNA program. I'm currently at the Germantown campus now and its impossible to work. Currently, I have clinicals 20hrs/week, class 16hrs/weeks plus an online class with do. You have papers (research, case study, summaries) to do, clinical care plans/concept maps, studying for weekly exams, simulation out in Jackson. Max out your stafford loan, take a private loan plus your use up your saving to get you through. Its just not possible to work while in the BSNA program. Good luck.
  3. Hello Glo1985, like I told Friend06, get the suggested study guide for theTEAS exam and study it. Focus on the chem, biology, nutrition & math session. Make sure you still understand and can remember how to do conversion (know the apothecary/household/metric tables). Review your personal statement and be able to answer these questions.. 1. Why did you choose this program? Why did you choose the accelerated track? 2. Are you willing to sacrifice not working to make it in this program? 3. Why will being in this program benefit you? Why you choose nursing? Once you come in, you will sign in with the nursing coordinator, then take the TEAS exam and finally get interviewed. Good luck and I will be in clinicals till 5pm that Thursday. Let me know how it goes and we can keep in touch.
  4. You can either wait to get married or try to do it before January 2nd, 2009 when the BSNA program will start. I had to push my wedding to April 2009 because I just could not keep up with school and planning a wedding.
  5. Sorry Friends06, I have not login for a while. Regarding the interview, please know your personal statement thoroughly. Study for the TEAS exam using the suggested study guide. Relax and be your self. If you do well in the TEAS and the interview, then I'm sure your in. Then start getting yourself ready for the dosage calculation exam. You can either wait to get married or try to do it before January 2nd, 2009 when the BSNA program will start. I had to push my wedding to April 2009 because I just could not keep up with school and planning a wedding.
  6. Its not recommended that you work during the program. I was planning to, but after doing almost 50hrs of class room lectures and clinicals, they is just no spare time to work. I'm thinking of working during the last semester (Fall 08), but it might not be possible with a full schedule. I hope this helps and good luck.
  7. Hello all, I just got into Union University at Germantown for the Accelerated BSN program. I will start in January 2008 and finish in December 2008. The progam is for people who already have a bachelor's degree and have completed all their nursing courses. For those of you interested, please take your time and work on your personal statement. You will be asked questions about your personal statement during the interview. Good luck with your applications......
  8. Hello everyone, I just got accepted into an accelerated BSN program at Union University at a second degree student. I'm so excited and can't wait till I start, the whole application process was extremely draining. I'm writing to ask what things I should do to get myself mental and emotionally ready?
  9. Hey Bama folk, I don't leave in Alabama yet, but I will hopefully be by the end of summer. I applied at USA, Mobile Accelerated BSN program. I don't understand how things are done in the South, but out here, things are done fast. I applied to the 2nd degree BSN program at USA back in Februry and still have not found out if I got in or not. They go round in circles, its extremely annoying.
  10. I take it you were accepted into the January 2007 class at Baldwin. Good luck and thanks for the tips.
  11. I live in California and applied for the Accelerated BSN program at USA back in February. I meet all their requirement and my prereq GPA is almost 3.4. I really like the pace of their problem and the cost is fairly reasonable. I have never been to Alabama, but thats the least of my worries. At first, I was told that they process applications on a first-come-first serve basis, but I was later told after all my documents were recieved that I have to wait till April 1 to find out my status. Do I have a chance????
  12. I go to the university of south alabama, and i like it! i'm starting the nursing program in january. there are lots of good hospitals here, and 3 that are owned by the university itself. I applied to USA in January for the Accelerated BSN program. I qualify for the Accelerated MSN especially because my Bachelor's degree is in Health Care Administration. I'm goal is to pursue the Family NP program shortly after the BSN. Does USA accept only Alabama applicants? Cause I live in California. I submitted all my documents for th Fall 2007 semester in February but the Nursing department says I have to wait till April 1, the Fall 2007 deadline to hear their decision about my application.
  13. I'm currently applying to Accelerated BSN program for both the Summer 2007 and Fall 2007 sessions. I have got into one program thus far but if everything else fall, I will go there. I have an interview at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces in 2 weeks. I have a conditional acceptance with them at this moment. I just mailed out my application to the Universiyt of SOuth Alabama for the Fall semester. I applied to Emory University and Kennesaw State University and I'm waiting to hear from them. Before you apply to any Nursing program, you should have applied and be accepted in their University. Get your transcripts together before applying, take all the require immunization too. I'm graduating in May 2007 with a BS in Health Care Administration/Biological Science and a minor in French/Chemistry and my current GPA is a 3.7 and my pre-nursing 3.9. I have worked as a Nurse Assisant for almost 2 years now. I have been a substitute teacher at a local high school for 2 years now. I have done a lot of community service too. I'm also a doula and have assisted in 8 successful births. I want to eventually be a Family NP. I believe in hard work cause I have worked and paid my way through college being that I have no parents in the United States. To all those applying or planning on applying to Accelerated BSN programs, please do your homework.
  14. Hello, I did my CNA/HHA (Certified Nursing Assisant and Home Health Aid) program at the Charles Jones Skills and Business Center on Lemon Hill Avenue and 47th. The program was 7weeks total and cost $500 for everything (state exam, book, uniform, appplication fees and tuition). I really enjoyed it. I took it last summer. You can go online and find the school and their website is very detail. I hope this helps.
