  1. I think thats a question only you have the answer for. I choose LPN route because I needed to see results sooner. I plan on graduate september 12 and starting at the local cc september 18 for the bridge. Good luck either way!

Nursechick07 you asked and I know thats not true. One of the grads from the lpn program I am in now is working at childrens in the NICU. I know of another lpn working at childrens also. I know of another lpn working in the nursery but not with the mom's at the hospital where we do our clinicals. I do agree that Lpns don't work in L&D.
  3. Two women in my program have given birth. We started in september one was born in november the other feb. We go to school m-f 8-4. You can do it!
  4. You have 4 mths? I'd hibernate for the next 3 your gonna miss sleeping!
  5. "They" say you try about 7x's before your able to quit. I have not smoked for about a week this time. Seems kind of stupid too smoke when it gives you headaches and gag when you inhale. Don't know why that started but it sure gave me an extra reason to quit. I have quit for 6mths before and it was easy to do when I was sick. I had bronchitis something awful, and I was still trying to puff away. Try to stay away from other smokers if you can. Get rid of your ashtrays and lighters. When the thought of smoking comes into your mind replace it with something else. Good luck!
  6. This was one nurse and her bad attitude. I agree with that. One clinical I had a nurse who made me feel like I was just in the way. And it was obvious she didn't care to involve a student. I was very taken aback by her attitude. Next clinical, same site, I had a wonderful nurse who offered me every oppurtunity available. They had both graduated from the program I am in now. You just have to remember people are people nurses or not. Your gonna come across attitude no matter what field you are in.
  7. Your the girl at my first clinical who sat in the corner with her nose wrinkled up because my individual had a bm. Get over it or find something else to do. I've worked in LTC where even the Charge Nurse had to take a turn working a shift as a CNA.
  8. I agree you need to find some organization. Your in the program which means you have already put alot of effort into this. Would you rather look back and see you gave it your best effort, or look back and wish you hadn't gave up? Are you giving yourself some "free time"? From a fellow nursing student I know how silly that sounds but you have to have something that isn't stressful. Talk to a counsler or instructor for some tips and your concerns. Good luck!
  9. Drugs that affect various sites are nonspecific drugs and have properties of nonspecificity. Bethanechol may be prescribed for postoperative urinary retention to increase bladder contraction. Because bethanechol affects the cholinergic receptor, other cholinergic sites are also affected. heart rate decreases, blood pressure decreases, gastric acid secretions increases, bronchioles constrict and the pupils of the eyes constrict. Drugs that evoke a variety of responses throughout the body have a nonspecific response Drugs may act at different receptors. Drugs that affect various receptors are nonselective drugs or have properties of nonselectivity. Chlorpromazine acts on the norepinephrine, dopamine, acetylcholine, and histamine receptors, and a variety of responses result from action at these receptor sites. I'm not a whiz this is out of my pharm book. Hope it helps a little
  10. I am a current lpn student. When we started clinicals we started out with things like showers, morning cares. Nothing to involved. Being a CNA for too long it was very easy, we had one person to take care of. Just relax your not going to be doing anything to this person that they don't have done on a regular basis. Most people enjoy having a student because they get 1:1. I don't know if you get partnered up with a fellow student or not but if you do try to get someone with some CNA experience. They can guide you and answer questions for you. Don't worry you will be just fine! I am in Ohio too...What school are you attending?
  11. Ok try this......our uniforms are blue and white pinstriped very small so unless your close they just look lt. blue. Our tops have a wierd collar and the tops zip up in the back and have buttons so we can attach our bib for clinicals and the bib is white. So when your not wearing your bib you have these silly buttons on your shirt that look totally pointless. Lt. blue lab coat that we wear unless we are bedside or in lab. White shoes. White hose. And we get inspected. Hair must be contained and shoes must be polished. My school is strict and looking professional is a must. We wear our uniforms everyday......classroom, lab, clinical. We have discussed a bonfire upon graduation!
  12. Being a CNA for 10 years I've learned a few tricks. Using a little bit of ice cream on the end of the spoon just to get a hard feed to take a bite. Making a "shake" out of the pureed food and milk. Some people will suck a straw but won't open for a spoon. Sometimes when your doing your best to help someone you do some things that aren't the most appealing. And of course you have to watch for problems.
  13. What do I know about meth? I know my brother-in-law is raising his grandchild because the mom would rather be high. I now my oldest sons dad is just now being released from prison because he would rather be high. I know my little brother gave up his kids....why? you guessed it he would rather be high. Meth makes you a Sociopath. Where I'm from we call them tweakers. MSNBC has some really good programs on meth. Users come in many different income and education levels. I'd be surprised if everyone didn't know of at least one addict.

you need to look at the new york dept of health website Patient Safety Center - Center for Consumer Health Care Information - New York State Department of Health I've transfered mine a few times and usually all you have to do is fill out some paperwork and have a ny addy. I can't imagine it being any harder then that. I found another website that may help you Prometric: Testing and Assessment search around and you will find the form you need to fill out
