They do for the prereqs. I was working full time and was still able to take 14 credits per semester. I took most of my classes on Saturdays and I know they have sunday classes too. Now that I got into the program, I will have to cut my work hours because the schedule is SO unflexible. They only offer morning hours for the nursing lecture and clinicals. So that kind of sucks....

I just got my acceptance letter from City Tech, starting clinicals in August. A lot of my classmates when I was taking pre-reqs were transfers from BMCC. They're frustrated with the waiting list. I think all CUNY schools are really competitive though. I've heard great things about BMCC, they have a fantastic schedule if you're interested in working while going to school (late nights classes, saturdays, etc). They don't have "space saved" for 1199 members as far as I know. City Tech got a grant from 1199 which allowed them to accept more students (110 instead of 80 for this fall), but you are still competing with everyone else for the spot.

I am currently finishing up my prereqs at City Tech and I'm very pleased with the school. I considered CSI too, but the commute is a killer unless you live in SI. Nursing school is tough as it is, you don't want to spend 2 hours commuting to school everyday, paying that toll. Me personally, I wouldn't consider getting myself up to my neck in debt to pay for school. I think you have a great chance of finding a decent job with an AAS degree because of the shortage. After you graduate and get a job, you can always go back to school and get your BA. Some hospitals will even pay for your tuition. City Tech is a decent school. It's not NYU by any means, but I'm pleased with it. The average GPA to get in is usally a 3.4, but it varies from semester to semester. The NLN is required (i think somebody mentioned it wasn't). You need at least a 92 composite to be considered, which is not bad at all compared to other schools. I got a 126. I chose City Tech because is convenient and I knew I would have a pretty decent shot. I have a lot of classmates who transfered from BMCC because they're so discoraged with the competitition. I think at the end of the day, all CUNY schools give you a good foundation, it's up to you to apply yourself and be the best nursing student you can be. Also, once you get into the program at City Tech they want you to get your feet wet as soon as possible. In the first semester you are already assigned to a hospital (my friend is at Maimonides). I don't think many schools do that, but I might be wrong. Is something that I'm really looking forward to. Good luck to ya!

I don't know how much the tuition is but I know it's expensive. I have a classmate who transfered from there for financial reasons. Have you checked their website? Or maybe you should give them a call.

If I'm not mistaken, to be a licenced/registered professional here you need to be a citizen or legal resident. I know because my best friend went through a lot of trouble to get her licence after gratuating (as a dental hygienist).

There's no competition at all to apply for the pre-reqs. As soon as you're accepted to the college (as a pre-nursing major, or unclassified health), you are immediatelly eligible to register for those classes.You'll most likely have to take Bio 101 first to get into A& P though. I'm going to City Tech and there are a lot of transfer students from BMCC. I've heard that you need a 3.8 to get into nursing there. It's really, really competitive. I just had my information seminar at City Tech last week. It was in the auditorium that holds 250 people. It was PACKED, there were no sits. And they mentioned that there are only 70 sits available per semester. The expected GPA for this semester is a 3.4 which is not that bad,. They are also offering 30 extra sits for students who already work in the health field (some type of partnership with 1199). I think all CUNY schools are ridiculous competitive. 90% of my A & P classmates are pre-nursing. I live in Brooklyn, but City Tech is right by the bridge. If you're downtown, it shouldn't take you that long. The F, A and R stop right there..... Good luck!
