North Carolina Roll Call
adorblepuppy, They are always looking for good nurses just like any other company. The best thing to do is follow up with a phone call. I got hired through an agency but just call them from time to time to show interest and I bet you will here from them. As a company I have to be honest I have worked with better but I have worked for some much worst. They want to do the right thing but right now with the economy the way it is they are just trying to keep going. They appreciate their employees, but do work us hard but if you balance that out with having fun while you work it is O.K. Conehead

North Carolina Roll Call
Cay, I work for Fresenius in Durham. I enjoy the work and learn something new everyday. The people I work with like to have fun so we are always kidding each other. The company is O.K. they want to do the right thing but like anyother business they are out to make money. Conehead

about Davita...
I worked for Davita for six months and that was all I could take. They are not very friendly to staff all they care about is making money and not patient care. I work for another Dialysis company now that yes they are out to make money but they care about the staff and patients.

North Carolina Roll Call
Hi everybody, I live in Durham for the past 9 years, moved from New Jersey I am presently a hemodiaylsis nurse. I have been in nursing since 1988, first as a LPN, then RN and got my BSN from Jacksonsville University.

Fresenius, Gambro, Renal care group~which is best?
I just left Davita to work for FMC. Both companies are out for the money and that is the bottom line. I left Davita because they gave me two weeks of training and then gave me an assignment. Never working in diaylsis before I was lost and they did not care. All Davita saw was an RN who could push meds and be held accountable for things. The techs run the show at Davita not the nurses. FMC has better benefits and a better training program. I haven't been there long enough to see how they treat the nurses but so far I have been treated pretty good. Time will tell but I look at it this way any job you have there are good things and bad things about it no job is perfect. It just depends on how much you are willing to put up with.

Are you paranoid yet?
I don't know what it is but the staff is the problem at the prison's not the inmates. Most of the inmates want to do their time and get out with as little grief as possible. The staff is another story. Now they are the ones you need to watch your back over some of the staff just love to get you in trouble over stupid stuff instead of worrying about the important stuff.

Healthier Living Support - Part III
Hi I am new to this thread but have found that listening to relaxation music when I am getting stressed out and the first thing I want to do is eat has helped me. I have a major depressive order and get anxious very easily. Unfortunately if I could only stop smoking. I stopped for three years and then my Mother died and a cigarette was the first thing I reached for.

Would you sign incident report?
I would not sign it for the shear fact if it happened five weeks ago and you signed for the med then what is the issue. Five weeks later someone is complaining that they didn't get their med!!!!!

Are you paranoid yet?
I work in the Federal Prison and yes I am let's say I watch my back a little more closely. But like some of the other people have said I worry more about the staff doing something to me than the inmates. Usually the inmates are pretty respectful of the nurses and will watch out for them. Yes inmate's like to sue but I am finding they are more likely to sue the MD or the PA before the nurse. I have also notice that if you treat the inmate with respect even though they maybe a child molester than will treat you with respect. Yes it is sometimes very difficult to treat some of the inmates with respect when you know what they did to get into prison.

Did'nt expect this....
I am sorry that you were treated that way. I was an LPN for six years and then went and got my RN. LPN's as a rule have more clinical skills when then graduate than RN. I work with an LPN now who I would not give up to anyone. You might want to try some of the smaller hospitals. They have been advertising for LPN's lately. Good Luck

Pre-nursing in the Raleigh/Durham area
I live in Durham and I know Durham Tech. you can take the prereqs either on campus which they have two or they do have an online program that you can do. I am completing my BSN with Jacksonville University next month. Yeah... I did it online but I got my Associates in Nursing from a community college and then I went on for my BSN. Good luck
