Have you ever been threatened?
I have been threatend several times by Nurse Managers. The first was 2 C/O of neglect by A&O residents, reported to DON, told me to do write up on hearsay, I refused stating that policy said he had to investigate, he wrote me up for failure to follow through ADON who was present, responded to my question " would you rather I report this to State, by placing her hand upon my knee and saying very nicely "by all rights you can do that, but let me caution you, you never know what the State may find" I quit on the spot. The 2nd time I followed the Dr. order instead of the DON, involving MRSA contamination to a facilty, 2 days later presented with patient complaint (that never happened, totally false) terminated me and told if I make waves complaint would be presented to State. I have not notified the State in either circumstance because I am afraid of putting my license in jeopardy. But saw on news more people dying from MRSA and feel really torn, what would you do? :uhoh21:

Why did you take up nursing? What's your story?
I was an accident prone kid, stitches, broken arm, concussion...The nurses were always so kind to me. I started reading Clara Barton books in 4th grade, have known since then I wanted to be a nurse. Have been a nurse in Geriatrics for 15 yrs. now and not sure I want to be a nurse anymore, very disallusioned. End Of Shift Report All targets met, all patients satisfied. All staff are eager and enthusiastic to return for their next shift. All pigs are fed, washed and ready to fly.

What Is Your Most Gross, Yucky, Disgusting Nursing Horror Story?
As a newer LPN, in a nursing home I had a pt. with Huntingtons Chorea, the staff reported to me 2 days in a row that she had foul, watery stools, I had administered Imodium per orders and it was ineffective. So I decided to check her for an impaction. Not my very favorite thing to do, I gloved up and proceeded, however I was so grossed out when I removed a tampon from her rectum, she was unable to tell how it had gotten there. "Take what you like and leave the rest behind."

Resignation Retention
Hi, I have been an LPN for 13 years, working in the LTC field. Yes the money is a factor, however what matters most to me is the work environment, if the company is as concerned with my well being as they are with making money, I would give up higher pay. "The goal in life is to love God, do good then shut up and go Home."
