75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
Don't count yourself out yet, I felt the exact same way after taking it Tuesday. I still have no clue how I passed. I know that it feels impossible, but there is still a good chance you passed. Just try to relax and do something to take your mind off of it (I know that also feels nearly impossible too). Good luck!

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
Thanks for the support! :loveya: I have been driving myself (and my husband) crazy all evening. Think I'm going to waste some time playing around on Farmtown tonight and am planning to sleep in and get ready for a yard sale tomorrow. Hopefully the magic numbers are there tomorrow on the BON website. It's just the feeling like I knew NOTHING I mean I've always kind of stressed over tests, but never felt this totally lost! Ok, enough for tonight! Thanks again everyone!

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
I feel horrible! Took NCLEX today... 75 questions, not one math, at least 20 SATA, only was 100% sure on maybe 2 questions and had no clue on the others, not even educated guesses on most. I'm sure I failed. If I passed I REALLY don't know how. They know right away, why do we have to wait 48 hours. This is going to be miserable. Can I just sleep for 48 hours? AUGH!

Recession
I'm sorry to say that I've run into the same problem that you're having. In my area there are no jobs for RN's in hospitals even if you are an experienced RN. Have you considered applying at a LTC facility? I know that it may not have been your dream job or even something that you thought that you'd ever do but in the big picture it is a job and every day you work you are one day more experienced for your next position - who knows, you may find yourself enjoying the position. Just a thought. Good luck in your searches, and remember - you got through nursing school, you can do this!

Northwest Indiana hospitals hiring new grads?
I was offered the position at the LTC facility today and have decided to take it - it's on the acute rehab unit. It's not exactly what I pictured myself doing after graduation but the majority of the people I graduated with haven't even had interviews yet so I consider myself lucky. I have worked at St. Joe for the past two years and they didn't and still don't have anything available - not just for new grads. I'm going to attempt to keep my PRN status that way should something open up I can apply for it at internal instead of being an outside applicant. I agree, this website is great! Whenever I can't find an answer for something I can usually search here and find it, I have also looked to it for reassurance throughout nursing school. Even if I completely hate the job at least I can say that I have experience and can look at the whole thing as a learning experience. But, you never know - I may end up loving it. I guess that only time will tell. Thanks again for the great advice!

Northwest Indiana hospitals hiring new grads?
Thank you very much for the information however I live in Elkhart - near South Bend and although I've considered searching for work in that area because of the travel involved it wouldn't work with my family. I had a promising interview at a LTC facility in town and although that wasn't my first choice, I think that with things the way they are around here right now I will feel fortunate to be offered a position. Most of the people that I graduated with haven't even been able to schedule interviews. I'll certainly pass this information on to anyone considering commuting for work! Thanks again for the information!

How long for ATT to come? How long to study?
I graduated May 2nd and sent in all of my paperwork to the State (Indiana) last Wednesday, I'm waiting for my ATT and can't wait to schedule my NCLEX. I did HESI last week and did very well on that. I've been doing 50 or so questions a day from Kaplan and Saunders and plan to schedule NCLEX for the soonest date possible. At this point, as one of my great instructors always told us.... we know what we know!

Northwest Indiana hospitals hiring new grads?
I too am finding the same problem... no jobs for new grads. Indiana does not recognize the title of "Graduate Nurse" so pretty much in Indiana you have your license or you are nothing. I have found that the best place to start is calling the nurse recruiter and explaining that you are a new grad and see what you can do, there's usually an orientation process that will help take up some of the time until you are able to get your license. I'm just waiting for my ATT so that I can take the NCLEX and be more marketable. Good Luck to you!

What regions have the best nursing job opportunities since the economic recession?
I live in Elkhart, IN and can tell you that there are very very few opportunities available here. Hospitals are actually laying RN's off and forcing some to take pay cuts in order to keep their jobs. I am a recent graduate and of the 32 that graduate from my class less than 5 have jobs. This area certainly isn't seeing a nursing shortage.

Relocating to Indiana
I know that you are not looking to relocate to this area but just FYI I live in the South Bend area and can tell you that there are no opportunities in this area, experience or not. I've been to both Columbus and Greenwood and they are both very nice towns. I personally love Greenwood, they have seen a great deal of growth over the past 5 years.
