Why is the central line preferred over a peripheral IV for TPN?
Hi everyone: Just a quick question from a lab I'm working on.. As per the title.. I'm thinking because of larger bore in PICC, less chance of systemic infection, PICC can stay in place for extended periods of time.. Any feedback would be very helpful Thanks

My stats that got me into anesthesia school
Hey That's Awesome!! I'm going to be in your boat pretty much.. I will be graduating from a BN program in 2010 and then want to go right into the ICU and then apply to CRNA school after 1 year experience.. I will be 34 upon graduation from the BN program.. Where did you get your first ICU job? I'm from Canada and will be moving to the USA to work.. Would like to get a job where I can move right into a CRNA program without having to move again.. I also want to work 70-80hr per week, for the money and experience.. Great story! Very inspiring! Any info greatly appreciated!

dosage calculation for nebulizer
Hello: I need to do a dosage calculation for epinephrine in a nebulizer and it seems like the doc is prescribing 10x the recommended dose... Here is the info epinephrine: 1:1000 0.05ml/kg/dose in 2-3 ml of NaCl via nebulizer upto q1hr prn (usually .25 - .5ml/dose) that is what it said in the drug book.. for example if someone weighted 12kg the max safe dose would be 0.05 X 12 = 0.6ml.. If an order stated 5ml q1hr PRN??? This would seem to be 10x the recommended dose..?? Can anyone point out where I may be going wrong or how to do this calculation for nebulizer epinephrine Thanks

Maternity Care Plan
Ahh.. Yeah, can you recommend a good care plan book, because the 20 or 30 dollars for the book would be well worth it in time saved Thanks Terry.

Major nursing care plan C- section need one more diagnosis
How is it cheating??? There should be standardized care plans.. the whole point of a care plan is to provide the best care possible.. Why not make care plans that everyone can use..?? Terry.
