  1. I applied for CRNBC assessment in December last year and I used my mother's VISA debit card for the fee and it was accepted. It's ok to use your sister's credit card.
  2. hi mikes511, i have a copy of the PRC NLE requirements in MSWord format. Just PM me your email address and i will send it to you as an attachment.
  3. Yes, let us give credit to where credit is due. Job well done and thank you very much indeed, Dr. Dante Ang. It's sad to hear people who are quick to criticize but are slow to show appreciation and gratitude. As what i have heard, some people even have the gall to deny credit to the delegation that went to Chicago to persuade the NCSBN to put up a testing center here, saying that putting the testing center in Manila had been planned all along, with or without the leakage contoversy. They have been saying that the June 2006 exam leakage has nothing to do with NCSBN'S decision to deny the Philippines' request for a testing center for the past 2 years, and that it is the Philippines' peace and order situation that turned them off. If i remember right, an Asian country's railway system, located in its biggest city, has been bombed by terrorists last year (2006) but 4 NCLEX testing centers had been put up in each of its 4 major cities. And to think that more than 80% of the foreign-educated nurses currently working in the US come from the Philippines, it is really ironic that we have been denied a testing center. Up to the present, NCSBN'S statistics show that majority of the foreign-educated nurses who take the NCLEX come from the Philippines. And up to now, we don't even have one testing center in our country. It breaks my heart to think that we are being discriminated. When i read the list of countries outside the US that have NCLEX testing centers, i couldn't help but laugh at some of the testing sites (i won't name them). i mean, who the hell would take the NCLEX in those places? Countries where most people don't even speak English, its preposterous to put up a testing center for prospective US nurses there; while the Philippines is being ignored!
  4. http://globalnation.inquirer.net/news/breakingnews/view_article.php?article_id=48501 NCLEX finally coming to the Philippines -- according to a Philippine Board of Nursing member I hope this is true!
  5. Hi winterfairy, I think I sent you an email attachment of the PRC form about 2 weeks ago. Were you able to receive it? Im going to send another copy to the email address you sent me thru Private Messaging.
  6. I passed the June 2006 NLE. After the leakage scandal broke out, I became concerned about our prospects of being employed in the US. I read Suzanne's, Lawrence's and others' advice for those interested to work in the US, to retake the exam. After reading and listening to the arguments for, and against, retaking the exam, I made a stand and chose to retake the exam. My decision was further affirmed by the CGFNS' announcement that they are deferring applications, and may decide to deny, Visa Screen certificates to applicants who passed the June 2006 NLE. I went to the PRC to tell them I intend to retake the exam, they said I could do so provided that I waive my passing score. So I wrote a waiver, they accepted it and gave me permission to take the December 2006 NLE. I reviewed on my own at home. I intentionlly avoided review centers. I took the entire exam, Tests 1 to 5, and passed. Problem solved. No more discrimination from hospitals. No more fear of not being given a Visa Screen certificate.

  9. The CGFNS respecting the decision of the Philippine government to issue licenses to the June 2006 board exam passers has no bearing on its mandate. The CGFNS is not beholden to the Philippine government. In fact, by virtue of it being contracted by the NCSBN to perform Visa Screen certification and credential evaluation of foreign nurses, it is after the interests of the American public, i.e., to screen foreign nurses so that only those who possess the credentials to qualify and practice as nurses can be recruited to work in the USA. So even in the scenario where the Philippine government may decide not to cancel the June 2006 licensure exams and start giving licenses to those who passed, the CGFNS has the prerogative to accept or reject the credentials of those who took the said board exam; the CGFNS may instead choose to approve qualified nurses from among those who passed in the other exam dates / batches. And also, there are other nurses from various nationalities all around the world who want to work in the USA, from which the CGFNS can select qualified nurses. Ensuring the American patients' safety and security is of paramount importance in the task of the CGFNS, and not the fairness of accepting or rejecting the licenses and credentials of foreign nationals. FYI, I am one of those who took the June 2006 NLE. I passed the exam but I have decided to retake the exam to clear my name of any cloud of doubt and avoid problems in the future when I would submit my application for licensure in a US state board of nursing; and in the CGFNS for visa screen and credential evaluation purposes.
