  1. Saunders is great use the CD analytical level and you should be fine.
  2. hello all, I am up for an interview with a great company for a nurse manager position in a primary care center that provides care across all ages. I currently work in an academic setting and have experience with the tasks required (no title). I am 1 year away from my MSN with a focus in nursing administration and financial leadership. I am not unhappy where I am currently, however I am looking for growth and this seems to be a great opportunity. I did work for this organization as staff relief and enjoyed the philosophy and mission and vision. i am compensated very well where I am at now with great benefits. this organization also has some great benefits however they are known to not be the best in terms of salary, my question is what is a realistic offer to accept it is located in Hollywood, fl. and is part of seven hospital in addition to 4 other PCC's. any thoughts are appreciated and valued, that you all for your time and input. I look forward to hearing your feed back
  3. you will be fine. for a nursing (adn).the math you need is elementary algebra. as for cna training you will learn how to take vs, make a bed, how to give a bath, adl's, ppe's, basic dressing changes, a light over view of the systems, and in some school how to draw labs. good luck and enjoy your journey! tabbycoley, rn, bsn
  4. Ok here's the scoop I graduated from BCC Central in 06", I was 3 months pregnant with my second daughter when I started so I understand your anxiety. First you must STUDY 10-12 hours a day no joke if they say something more than once in class REMEMBER it! It's on the test. Get a tape recorder and tape lectures so you can go back and get test info. Saunders NCLEX get it:twocents:, ALOT of test questions come from the book as well as the CD for the whole program. KNOW your math; nobody wants to go to LPN school because you miss two math questions on the test. If you have Prof. Kantis your lucky she is a great resource, firm but willing to teach. You will REALLY learn a lot from her, and TRUST me once you get out with your RN you'll be thankful for all that she taught you. Remember you are learning a whole new way of thinking, it takes time, the best way to study is to get as many NCLEX prep books as you can and practice the questions, that will prepare you for what you will be excepted to understand. They want you to learn to think analytical. Also I personally LOVE the Incredible easy series :up:ie: med-surg, peds, mother baby, critical care they are on CD so you can practice the questions and review the rational. Reading the text can get over whelming I know this is a nice way to break it up and know that you ARE understanding the material as well as how to process it. Good luck any other questions feel free to ask. Tabbycoley, RN,BSN
  5. It depends on what you want out of it. I was under the impression that a BSN would make me a better nurse. I will graduate in may of 09 and my current GPA is 3.78 I have learned nothing. I haven't even needed to read one book. It is very easy. The only thing I fear is that if I choose to go on to by MSN I may be ill prepared:confused:. here's the link http://www.nova.edu/ Nova Southeastern University the main campus is in Ft. Lauderdale FL.
  6. My class started out 74 (largest class BCC ahd done to big if you ask me) we graduated 15 of my orignial track
  7. I graduated from BCC in 06" great school I hated it while I was there but now that I've been working and have seen other nurses from other schools I"m glad it was so hard it makes working so much easier!

  10. I was a stripper:chuckle. it tought me the skill of manipualtion:lol2:
  11. saunders cd,kaplyn q-bank
  12. they are the same, difference is 3rd is in color use the cd that came with it do all the question on the analytical level and you'll do fine (passed nclex 2006 1st try 75 questions)
  13. I have had psoriasis for many years and have suffered as you. tried many treatments. what has worked for me to keep it under control is TANNING. I go after my shift every day that I work (not on my days off) My derm. wanted me to try lazer therapy in her office along with my injections. I just didn't want to be in her office 2x a week. Being a nurse is very stressful and that can trigger flar ups. the tanning helps with the flair ups and gives me a chance to relax after a STRESSFUL day. I've beentanning for about 2 years now and my skin has never been better. I can wear a bikinni or backless shirt and not be embarrassed. Now I know the risk of skin ca but as with any med treatment there are risk I have weight the risk and bennys for me this was the best choice. I also thought about enbral (weakens your immune system not the best idea for working in a hospital.) If you ever want to chat I'm here it's alway nice to know that your not alone.
  14. how about a pca giving you a bp not once but 3 times. you get an order for vasotech IV hang the med and one hour later the pca says that's not the pt with the high bp!!!!f but it's ok I put it in the computer under the right pt (which was not my pt at all) Wait it' gets worse (pt was fine) but I totally flipped out and cursed her out at the top of my lungs screaming profanities in front of my manger (after she lied and said that she told me it was the other pt who was again not my pt! :flamesonb
  15. That would be nice but what is happening is the good nurses are leaving the average life span of a nurse on my unit is 6mo. we are a teley step down unit (should be and IMCU with the type of pt we get). even the vets are getting fed up it 's turned into a trainin ground for new grads they put in their six months and poof out they go they are now preceptoring new grads with rns with a year or 8mo experanice. unfortunitaly soon I will be at the top of the food chain the way people are leaving and I can ornate new rns I only been a nurse for 4mo.!
  16. We are required to say is there any thing you need ? I have the time and that we will be rounding on you every hour. along with signing a paper in the room. every hour we go in to the room and to ask the three p"s (potty pain and position.) and our rounding time is a pain in the a--! we round at 8 ,give meds at 9 ,round at 10 give meds at 11 and so on so there is no time to do much of anything like oh I don't kow CHART, PEE, EAT most people just started to sign the board in advance but if they see that the board is sign early your in trouble. even 15 min ahead. not only that we use computerized charting (sucks!) the computers are always breakinng down and we have assigned parking I about had a panic attack last week over were to park my c.o.w. As if we don't have enough to worry about. What happened to using your nursing judgment giving care to the pt. some days I wonder if it is all worth it, and now were trying to go magnet will this make thigns better or worse? anybodyknow would love to hear you in put
  17. Hi Bonasi8888 I started with the analyst section (in study mode) of the saunders CD (1,849 questions) I tryed to do a minimum of 100 a day sometimes more especially as my test date got closer. I know people say to read all the reational right or worng but I only read the wrong ones. unless I guessed right. than I did the application section about another 1,050 questions.I also did the CD from mosby's comprehensive review 8th ed on high difficulty study mode. I have had these nclex books all through school so I didn't re-read them just used the CD's for practice questions. I didn't review anything execpt meds a great book is mosby's pharmacology memory note cards. I also memorized my chem 7, CBC, ptt, aptt, ABG's, BUN, creatinine, total billi,AST/ALT, ESR and read this thread every day it gave me sanity when I could not do any more questions I take a break and read allnurses. hopes this helps if you need any thign else pm me. good luck.
  18. I don't know how you r doing it by the 47th hour I was climbing the walls:selfbonk: (patients is not a virtue that i possess). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I read on a thread that someone called the bon and asked if there was an active licence under the name of and aksed her name and found out you could always try that.
  19. If I were you I would e-mail her and ask her. Let her know that you are very interested in being a part of her team, and that you know that she is very busy and would appreciate a reply at her earliest convconvenience.
  20. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!:yeah:!!:monkeydance: It's time to reward your self for a job well done! I'm happy for you :w00t: :w00t: :icon_hug: :icon_hug: :icon_hug:

  22. I am so thrilled :w00t::monkeydance: I just called everyone I new and told them. I wanted to thank all of you for your support.:kiss :kiss This form really put my mind at ease and made the test seem easy (knowing what to execpt on the nclex)I really feel that made a difference when it came time to test. If you have not tested yet and your reading this there are two thing that I think will ensure that you pass 1. read this forum there is sooooo much information to help take the fear out of taking the nclex and 2. Rember, with hard work nothing is unattainable. TabbycoleyRN
  23. Hey elfchen, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. don't painic, take your time, you are intelligent and capable. Rember with hard work, nothing is unattainable.
  24. well 45 minutes and 75 questions later it's done! I feel pretty good about it I got alot of priority, select all that apply (hate those):angryfire . Hope I passed the test didn't seem all that bad over all once I sat there and thought about the question for a minute only one answer seemed right ( most of the time) there were a couple that I had to guess (besides those select all that apply) Now for the 48h of torture:confused: the anticipation is the worst thanks for listening
