Questions to ask hospitals???
Hi CarebearRN, when i first was a traveler, i couldn't think of any questions to ask myself during an interview and wow did i get surprised! first and for most you want to know what is the nurse to patient ratios they practice, if team nursing with an LVN and CNA or just all RN's. Then you need to know what their expectation is versus their system of charting, admitting, discharging and if the staff welcomes travelers. make sure the manager tells you to contact her for anything, if she doesn't mention this, then ask her yourself who to contact in case an issue arises. Us travelers can be used as scape goats for the staff so be careful and know right away what the standard procedures are in that facility. Last, make sure if you want to do over time let them know right away so they know they have someone to depend on to fill in low staff slots, management loves that. i think that much sums it up until you settle in. Good luck!

is anyone else stressed out?
glad to know it's not just me feeling like i am hanging by a thread on a day to day basis ...i took up legal nurse consulting and will start my business soon...I just hope my blood pressure drops back to normal after that career move! I really wish that if administration expects us to work that hard we should receive bi weekly health spa treatments added to our health benifits...wouldn't that be a PRO nurse objective!

no RN in the OR just techs
tell me if this is right...the SURGICAL TEAM: OR techs circulating in the OR for abdominoplasty, liposuction, and breast augmentation..is there something missing in the picture?
