Introductions!
Hello I am a recent RN grad and was a LPN for 2 years. I live in a remote area of Southeastern, CO and hoping to relocate to the Albuquerque area. I am currently a agency nurse working in corrections and have recently been accepted to NMSU new online RN-BSN program. I would eventually get my NP from UNM. My husband and I enjoy running race horses that was our previous careers and have spent a lot of time in various areas of New Mexico. I believe i left my heart in the land of Enchantment :redbeathe Hopefully I will be able to find employment there.

New Grad desperate for a job
I am also in the same boat in Colorado and hear the same from my classmates. So I accepted a job as a corrections agency nurse and work for two different agency. I drive anywhere from 45-120 miles to get to my assignments, at Colorado Department correction facilities. Not what I had planed but it's a job.

Nursing Shortage?

do the correctionals hire new grads?
Nice thought but like many new grads there are no hospital jobs, they want a year experience to hire. The nurses that work at the hospital get sent home for LCD (low census days). Very depressing. Being a new grad in the state of Colorado is challenging to say the least most of my class has had trouble finding employment and very few have been hired by a hospital. We are on of the top ADN programs in the state and on of two accreted in the area.
