  1. I'm coming up on 15 months in the ED, somedays are great and I feel like I'm walking on cloud. Other days I have all I can do to remember how to sign my name to a triage sheet. Fortunately the cloud walking days are getting more frequent. My advice would be to remember your limitations. One of the selling points for me getting the ED job after graduation was that I have been an Army Medic for 10 years, and with that experience comes both field and hospital care. My co-workers learned of this after my interview and expected a lot from me, which I willingly accepted. Big mistake until I realized half way through my orientation what was happening. Your groove will come to you and you too will start having more cloud walking days than writing jibberish. Good Luck!
  2. Hey chatsdale...think your electric is bad should try our oil this winter. Tempted to start sawing my house down for heat:angryfire . In the words of David Bryne and the Talking Heads i'll be "Burning down the House".
  3. Just a quickie on this...disease is disease and anyone can have one, how we manage our lives determines our success or failures at whatever we are doing.
  4. Looking to continue my nursing education. Currently work in a small ED where my ADN suits me well. My goal as a nurse has always been to continue with learning and eventually move on to a bigger ED where I'll be able to get my daily epi/nor-epi release instead of waiting weeks. So my question to those seasoned vets out there at this point what would suit me better, finding a CEN course or moving forward and start working on my BSN? Any insight?
  5. Thanks for reminding me of the things I missed this summer because of having to do my part to fill to open shifts, (can you sense the disgruntlement). Really can't complain, August seems to be a little slower in the ED so I'm enjoying what's left before my own kids head back to school. Hope all have a safe and fun remainder of the summer.
  6. Deep breath and blow, scream is you need to but only because the procedure is freaking you out.
  7. Hey all "Mainah" here too. Glad to see the rest.
  8. Went into the ED right out of school, sort of goes with the Army side. Hoping to continue with Critical Care or Or. Really found Med/Surg dull during school.
  9. I've seen one of our CRNA's push it like it was a flush, (with a succ chaser). Generally though in our ED it's the follow up to Versed after an intubation.
