  1. For renewal no need to send the transcripts. With IELTS you need to retake the exam and on one of their questionnaires, there is an option which authority you need to send the results of your IELTS. No need to pay anything.
  2. I think it would most likely be the one your expecting.
  3. It wasn't too bad for my experience with CGFNS. I haven't rang them even once. I always just opened my online account for updates. They were even the ones kept sending me emails reminding me to send all my documents. Once everything was supplied it took them a month to sent my certificate.
  4. I would assume you are registered with AHPRA. If you are really determined to go to Australia I would suggest coming here on a student visa and studying cheap courses not necessarily related to nursing. This route though requires a significant amount of money as the cost of living is not on the cheap here in australia. But this is an option given you have extra money and if you have a relative where you can stay would significant lower the cost. Then by starting at an aged care facility which can sponsor for a 457 visa. Once settled then you can start applying to major hospitals. I know of people who had used this option and they succeeded in becoming aussie RNs. Hang in there and Goodluck.
  5. This is still necessary especially with initial application. I still have to do it again for my recent renewal. In my experience approval time is around 3-4 months. Depending how quick you send all the requirements as they will not start reviewing until all the needed documents is available. Goodluck.
  6. IMHO jems a mix of documents would suffice. This is based on my recent PR application and previous 457 visa.
  7. Afaik with my dealings with AU immigration is that they are accepting scanned original documents as long as it is coloured.
  8. I think its much of a hassle if you go through it all over again. It would be easy and cheaper just to renew it. Hoping that in that span of 5 years your PD will come. What I did since you've got a year to meet the renewal requirements is I submitted all my documents on the 11th month. In that way I was to somewhat extend the expiry to a total of nearly 6 years. Because the date of 5 year expiry will depend on when you fulfil all the requirements... Good luck...
  9. If you have paid for the renewal before it expire then you have a year to fulfil the requirements for the visascreen.
  10. You will still be able to renew without a US license. You still need to sit ielts again and request the philippine professional regulation commission for your license status in the philippines.
  11. I'm very well pleased by what you are doing in extending your help to patients. You might think it's just a mini mission for you but it's really something big to the patients. You are really doing a good job. When we are in a difficult situation we remember what nursing is really all about. It's not always about having a good salary but it is about the patient we are caring for and how we can make a difference in their life by giving the best care we can given. Keep it up and hope that you working abroad as a nurse your view will not change and you'll uphold the standard of excellence for all of us Filipino nurses...
  12. In our facility we usually use sterile gauze for moderate ooze wound especially for the first 2 days post op. Then just a padded tegaderm afterwards...
  13. Yes the one year experience is really a requirement. But you can do all of the processing by yourself. You can search the internet for websites, blogs, or forums that can help you with the processing and you can really save lot of money.
  14. Yes. Usually we have just 5 patients. Because when you get six its already very busy. I think its very busy because I'm just a little new but I think when I'll get a few months experience then thats the time I'll have a good time management and good prioritization. Goodluck on you first week.
  15. Although most of our patients are ortho patients we still get medical and surgical patients as well. Because most of the cases we have are elective surgeries thats why the ward is not always full so are an overflow ward. If the medical is full then we accept patients from other wards.
  16. khirbz replied to zenman's topic in Orthopedic
Most of our patients are discharge after 2-3 days unless they have other concerns in going home. Especially if they are not safe in going home.
  17. I just had my first month in ortho ward and its been wonderful learning all those nursing cares that is only exclusive to orthopaedic wards. I've worked in medical surgical nursing before but its entirely different in ortho. I had a four week preceptorship program which I was able to gain confidence in working with ortho patients. In a few weeks from now I will gain more knowledge in the field of orthopedics and I'm liking it already...
  18. There are still a lot of hospitals doing volunteer program. I would suggest when you do your volunteer give it your best so that regular staff can recommend you to the supervisor that you are extraordinary that you have the needed skills the hospital needs. Be patient guys. Time will come that you'll get the nursing work you really want.
  19. I didn't avail of the said package but I took PAL for my trip to HK. Its around P18,000(rough estimate) all in all compared to cebu pacific's P7,000+ only back and forth. In my experience PAL has better service to think that its expensive. They'll serve meals in flight compared to CEB's snacks only. If you can save at least 10,000 for air fare alone it could be a good additional to your pocket money. A little something for your shopping in HK.
  20. You made the right decision. P15,000 just to help you process all the forms is too much. You still end up doing it all by yourself. Me, I did it on my own with help of some of my friends. It wasn't that hard though. Godbless on your application.
  21. Me, I took my exam in HK when the Manila location was still in the making. A good tour after your exam in HK will be a good gift to reward yourself of all the efforts you did during those months when you were studying. Hong Kong is a good place to visit. Lots of tourist attractions. Godbless on your exam and enjoy your tour of HK hyveth.
  22. There were batchmates of mine who already had tourist visa when we graduated last 2005. They took the NCLEX ASAP in the US and actually adjust their status afterwards. They are now working as RNs mostly in california and new york. Good for them. Those of us who didn't had tourist visas worked our way through the long route. We got caught on this retrogression thing and many of us are still waiting it out for the retrogression to open. We'll wait it out for the legal process to push through.
  23. I would suggest you take the nclex first because ielts has only a two year validity from the time you took while nclex will not expire when you'll apply in state that does not need a SS number to be issued a license.
  24. Applying online is faster than the regular mail application. But you have to be careful in answering the online question because it would take some time to change it. It's hard to change it by calling CGFNS. You also don't need to send another copy of the requirements. All your previous documents will be carried over your VSC application.
  25. Just as expected back to where they were a year ago. There will still be a 5 year wait for those who are waiting.
