Hey there Neurogeek, I'm currently at TCU, but not sure what you want to know. Give me some specifics and I'll try to answer some questions for you. jma06

Get into school first before you look into the military programs. They will come to school and try to recruit you. (Atleast 3 times a semester plus e-mails) They have good benefits, but I would like to know I am in school before I sign anything with them. Just my 2 cents.

I would get as close to campus as possible. I'm in TCU's program now and love grad housing. I have a dog too, but luckily Mom was willing to watch her so I could live on campus. Stonegate Villas are nice and close. You are going to want to be as close as possible. More time to study!!!

I don't know anything about the program in at U Penn but I'm in the program at TCU. The biggest factor for me was cost and the fact that it is front loaded. I can't imagine having to do the studying I'm doing along with clinincals. I also can't imagine doing clinicals with out the knowledge base I'm getting. The tution includes your books and TCU has graduate housing that is nice, and isn't outrageous. My top choice was a school in California, but I loved the school and staff at TCU. They also have had 100% pass rate on their boards for the last several years and do again so far this year with only 3-5 people left to take them. For this and other reasons, TCU was right for me. School is HARD and very time consuming. Go where you felt the most comfortable, and where you have the most support. Good Luck! jma06

CaliRn I was told this at Kaiser. What a waste to look at the books on the first day and change your mind. I would think if you took the time and money to apply you would know what you were getting into.

You might want to call the school and let them know you would be available last minute, if going doesn't require a big move. One of the schools I interviewed at said some guy took one look at the size of the books and decided it wasn't for him. If you live close by and can prepare yourself, you might get lucky that way too!

I think alot of it depends on the schools you apply to also. Some accept 10-12 applicants while others accept 30-40 and some even more than that. I would definitley look into getting your CCRN certification. Several places were impressed that I had it. Good Luck!

Try Private messaging e14lopez. There is a post they started saying they only had NICU experience. It sounds like they got accepted into 2 different programs with just NICU. It can be done just check with the programs you are interested in. Hope this helps

I am not sure how they do it. If you haven't heard anything yet, call them. They are really good at getting back to people.

Hi Arubi I am also applying to USC. I contacted them about the physics class. I think the web site said it didn't have to have a lab. I am taking a basic physics class online. I e-mailed the course description to the office manager and she said it was the right course. I would try them if you have any questions. They were very helpful with my questions.

Thanks for the help. I didn't think I would really need one but the nurse educator at work said "make sure you have a good cover letter" Up to that point I hadn't planned on writting one either. I have just been so anal about this whole process. I really want to get into school this year!!

Probably a silly question, but did you send a cover letter with your resume when sending in your apps to school? The only reason I ask is because anything I would put in a cover letter, I have put in the essay. I didn't want it to be repetitive. I am really not sure what do put, but I want it to be good. Just wanted your thoughts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your overall gpa is going to be the most important, Or your overall nursing gpa. If your BSN gpa is 3.8 those two classes won't change it too much. I would do my best to bring them up, but if your grades are that good it shouldn't be an issue. Don't stress out too much, it will only make the situation worse. You are doing really well. Besides, your gpa isn't the only thing they look at. Just relax and do your best!!

Ok, well the people I know all interviewed for the Mobile section. Maybe the three people I know got to be the unlucky ones and get those questions. Was just trying to help. Just relaying what they told me after their interviews.

Okay, maybe you were lucky then. i know three people that have interviewed at the Mobile site and they were ALL asked clinical questions. Better to be prepared than sorry if you aren't ready. Glad you got excepted, but apparently your interview was different.

My friend just graduated from there. It is a good program. The interview is clinical based. I have heard people don't even get all the way in the door and the board starts firing questions at you. Just an FYI.
