Nlcex-pn...........
Congratulations! I drove to Chattanooga yesterday to take mine for GA. Everyone keeps asking me if I think I passed....and I can honestly say I have no idea!!! That test was unlike any other I have ever taken. It shut off at 85, and at first I was "thank you Lord..." then I was like 'NO, I need more questions!!!!" Anxiously awaiting the results tomorrow!! What school did you attend?

scrub nurse?
This may belong on the GA post, but does anyone know if the scope of practice for an LPN could include being an OR scrub nurse? During one of my clinical rotations I was able to observe a C-section. I was facinated by all the scrub nurse was doing. Just curious! Thanks

I will have my LPN by June, what pre-req's do you need to go to ABAC one day program? And do they only start it in the summer? "Oh how easy it is to bridge..." everyone told me! NOT! Thanks!

Normal Saline in a nebulizer?
I know this question probably belongs in pulmonary, but here goes: My question: in clinicals the other day a patient, 19yo (with mild asthma, on QVar inhaled 40mg bid ) said that when she has a cold (or is congested) she uses normal saline (2cc) in her nebulizer. I asked if she mixed abuterol or any other med's with it, and she said only when in crisis. The normal saline seems to loosen her mucus and makes her cough more productive. I had never heard of that (of course there is ALOT I have never heard of, LOL) so I thought I'd ask here. Anyone ever heard of this? Standard procedure? Any risk involved? Many thanks!

Business casual
Hi all, thanks for the great advice. I think I'll be fine now (Kohl's & Parisians had a GREAT sale today!!) No clogs or lab coat for me! I appreciate the advice re: staying well covered (not a prob for me!-ck the age, LOL!) BUT our instructor warned us to watch the cleavage and the curves...he will send home anyone who shows too much. He said there is always someone who has to go home and change clothes!!

Business casual
Hi. We have to do psych rotation next week, and were told to dress business casual, closed toe shoes, no uniform, no jeans, lab coat optional. Thinking of kahki pants, twinset, dark clogs. Suggestions?? (i have to go do some shopping - most of my clothes are too casual!):monkeydance:

Is there a doctor or nurse on board this flight?
Just out of curiosity, do any of y'all travel with your stethoscope/BP Cuff? I usually have mine in the car, more from habit than anything...and thankfully have never been called on to use it (well, for my mom once). I've never flown before, so hopefully if I ever do some of y'all will be on the plane to save me from a panic attack!!

Do I need a suit???
i am sorry, but I have to say Yes, you probably do need to wear a suit. Navy or Black, or gray; cream or white blouse, nuetral hose, closed toed pumps/shoes. A friend of mine works as "the person who hires!" for doctor's offices and for hospitals, another state from me, dang it!) and she told me that when I start interviewing if I don't wear a suit she'll kick my butt! The reason: same as with nursing school interviews, the more time you take with the way you dress shows how much you care, and how much you want the job. Competition is fierce, and those who go the extra mile get the job. Kohl's, Goodies, Sears, Cato, and the outlet stores/malls are good places to look. I purchased a black suit ( Jones of New York) and their outlet store for $120. I bought the jacket and skirt seperate. ALSO -- you can borrow one from a friend! Good Luck!!

How hard is it to get Mom into a nursing home?
Do you mean MediCAID or MediCARE? We are looking for a NH for my grandmother - she has no $, and suffers from severe Osteoporosis so we have to look for a nursing home vs. Assisted Living (they are usually For Profit and do not coordinate benefits). We are in GA. I am not sure how other states are. To look at the ratings for Nursing Homes in your state go to www.medicare.gov I have been on ALL DAY looking at the ratings of various NH's in our area. Good luck to you, and I hope you are able to keep your mom with you. That being said, for your own benefit, ASK for outside help to give you a break! It can be too much to do on your own, as much as you love them! (Neighbors can be very benefitial!!) RB
