Had a interview on May 30th, went great. Was a 30min meet and greet panel interview. Got a call back on that Friday to follow-up with a 2nd interview on 6/5. Second interview was a panel interview with clinical scenarios. This felt good as well and was told I did a good job. Hinter that the next step was to either be hired or meet with the CNO. Did not hear back so I called the admin assistant to the manager who had been my contact point for interview scheduling. Told her I was just following up and making sure I reiterated my desire for the position. She told me that they were just waiting for the CNO's approval. No calls. Today I called the admin assistant again as the positions are now gone from the job board site. She says that she is not aware of the decisions that HR handles the calls of yes vs no. I called HR, and the answering HR person says that what I was told was not accurate that the hiring managers do that but that maybe I should talk with the recruiter to see. So I get forwarded to her voice mail and leave a message with the timeline of interviews and was just following-up since the jobs are cleared from the job board but no return call. Any advice or thoughts. I was pretty confident in how well the interviews went and the department manager that was in both panel interviews was very upfront and upbeat in our interactions. So now I am anxious and completely confused. Do not want to be pushy but also need a bit of closure.

Congrats, I am just finishing up my first semester, final is one the 20th. 6th time was my "lucky" number as well for ARC. Lol.

Science was fairly simplistic overall. A lot of scientific methods/procedures, only one or two anatomical/physiological questions that I remember. I have taken it twice and both were similar in structure. The science portion was I believe one of the shortest sections.

Yes, I probably should. Guess it is at that point. They(ARC) switched to a standard letter for me(no return of application stuff), this time. It was bright green and changed a bit but essentially the same as the old decline.

I heard the same thing from the SCC counselor about Yuba. Did your ARC acceptance come in the 9x12 brown folder with the paper work or just a letter? And why did ARC switch to a bright green decline letter, it got me excited at first, lol. And I stand as proof that the 4 times at ARC is a fallacy, lol. When I applied to SCC the person before me was on her 6th app.

Did you get accepted there to? Yes, I figured for the normal scc program as take everyone and do the top and bottom 1/3rd of all eligible applicants get on the wait list. But I didnt know if the extended program did as they only had 261 eligible applicants. Did everyones two SCC letters come together (Normal and Sutter)? Hope mine didnt get lost as I only had the Extended and ARC's in the mail yesterday.

Can I join the party ... I got my letters for ARC and SCC (extended) 5 times in applying to ARC and I cant even get on the wait list:angryfire....BOOOO 4 times to SCC, have yet to get the regular session notice. Sounds like it might be in todays mail, so maybe a BOOO 1 time applying to SCC extended and I am on the wait list. And they wont tell me where, of course. My friend was on the wait list for last years extended and they called her two weeks in and told her to be there Tuesday morning....

I appreciate the response. Although lacking the comfort of " Oh don't worry it's easy :chuckle " , I enjoy knowing its at least survivable. Good job on your 1st exam and hopefully you did as well on your 2nd. So does it rely heavily on what you learned in General chem? I took that 3 years ago and thats what I am most worried about as I dont know how much of that info has stuck around after all the anatomy, physiology, micro and all the the other pre-reqs.

Well I thought I was done with chem. but it looks like I am not. Enrolled in O.Chem, and start on the 29th....yuck... Counselor was real comforting saying that it was the hardest college course and once I was done I could do anything. Harder than A&P, and micro, great.

is this a test where getting through all questions of a section is best or is best to make sure you take your time and get the ones you can do right?

I am currently going to Sac State and am going to be applying in Spring for Fall 07. Can I ask what your spot was and how many points and gpa, etc. Sorry to be nosey, dont want to be rude but havent ever gotten the opportunity to ask a acceptee. Thanks, Joshua

Well thanks for the encouragement. Its rough and yes I had a friend get in and he was suprised at the drop rate. There was something like 8 of them left when we last spoke. It was out of 32 at the start. He got in on the Mercy spots, which I guess got cut so no more hospital designated spots. Psqrd, I wish you the best of luck in your continuation of the program. RN, dont worry you should have ARC's response, soon and maybe you got in as I heard that the declines go out first and then the acceptance packets. So I got mine on Wednesday, so maybe :cross my fingers for ya: yours will be the lovely acceptance.

Well got both Sacramento City college and American River college responses today. Alternate at SCC and nothing at ARC. This is so upsetting 4 time applying at ARC (never even got on the alternates list there) and 3rd time at SCC (and have always gotten on the alternates list). I am at Sac State but couldnt pick up the o-chem as all classes were full last semester. Hoping to get in to o-chem and be able to apply this Spring. I have around a 3.8/3.9 gpa and still need to take the teas test but I am hoping to do well enough to be competitive. Two years of my life waiting and all for naught. Pretty much done at the 4 yr level, just need my major work. Sorry to dump this here, I just wanted to vent. Crossing my fingers that I do well on teas and get into o-chem but being a junior sucks cause we are near the bottom for reg. dates and since I transferred I no longer get priority enrollment at the community college level....

also here this from my school (csus), maybe an option after you get the needed (which are standard from what i have seen, except o-chem at the aa level isnt required, here in sacramento) pre-req course-work, [color=#006633]in summer 2007 the csus division of nursing tentatively plans to offer an elmsn program. elmsn programs accept non-nurses with baccalaureate degrees in other fields. the pre-licensure portion will be a fast-track program, enabling students to become licensed nurses after only 14 months in the program. students will then begin graduate courses. the curriculum pattern will allow students to complete their course of study and graduate with a ms in nursing within 39 months. Grants make up the biggest portion of my financial aid and then subsidized loans cover whats left. I believe for the loans its dependent on what the financial aid office says you are allowed per term and then they put together a package for you. Did you do the fafsa and all that, Im in Ca and thats how it worked for me.

Well I need help and am looking to my fellow nursing students for some advice. Sorry this may be a little long: Okay I have busted my but for 3 years to get to this point. I have applied to 2 of my local community college programs twice. This Fall will be my 3rd go around. They are both on the random selection process. Both schools average around 500-600 applicants and accept around 45, from what I have been told. The good thing is that here in Sacramento the two CC's I have been talking about allow your name to go in multiple times. It matches what your number of applications. So my name will go into the pool 3 times (2 from the previous apps and one for the current). Also Sacramento City College, sent me a letter stating that I was an alternate and was in the first one-third of the alternate pool (they dont give specific placement) but I have never heard anything else from them other than that letter some time ago. They positive of this is that they have both a random general pool and a random alternate pool, from which they fill the next semesters nursing class. Okay heres some more story, sorry. I busted my butt (Spring 06) and got all my needed course work done to be eligible for Sac State (4yr university). They have a competitve program nursing program. They are point based and I wanted to have that as an option. I got in!yay!.. However, they require Chem 306 (o.Chem) to be in progress in order to apply. No big deal I thought I would enroll in it at Sac State, for this upcoming Fall, which would allow me to apply for the Spring 07 nursing program. Problem is even transfering in as a Junior the class filled before I ever got to enroll, so I fill my Sac State schedule with GE classes and mentally move on. So I am SOL. But then I email all the local community college teachers that are offering the same chem class. One eventually (yesterday) responds and says she will take me!yay! However she is known to be the hardest chem teacher around. Not usually a problem as I have done summer school, with a/p, micro, nutrition, and psyc and got A's (not gloating but makes me feel capable,somewhat). But there is a catch. During the course of this summer I took off of school to breath. However, the mental repair didnt get to happen. I have a head double knee surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago, throat surgery (adenoids,uvula,tonsils removed)... And now I am dealing with what seems to be depression. The motivation to start this class with this hard teacher is not there. I was ready for a full load at Sac State with some GE courses that start Sept 5th. It wouls allow me to ease into a new educational environment and still make progress. My mind had moved on from Chem months ago when I didnt get in. Now the problem is, do I have it in me to reduce my Sac State course load, start tomorrow in this chem class and succeed, giving me another place to potentially get in to a nursing program. My family and myself almost feel certain that I will get in to one of the Community college programs this fall but nothing is certain. The drive to this CC that has the chem class is 45min away, has a difficult/demanding teacher, and even to apply to Sac State I need to take the Teas test and do well. Which in my current physical and mental mind state seems like to much. So there it is, what if any advice would you give. IF your still awake after all that. for me it was to have multiple books. Like the above poster said the dummies book; which was one of 4 that I had. They all gave a different perspective and when combined it clicked. You can memorize a great deal but if you can see how it works and where it fits then it makes that memorization so much more effecient. You are taking a summer course, which are usually so compact that your bound to fall a bit behind but relax as much as possible and come back to your studies.

Similar to the above poster I learned alot of O-chem (which I am taking in the Fall) in microbiology.

My gpa has always been on first go around. I believe at my schools you cant repeat a course if you meet a passing © grade only a D and lower and then at that point they do an average...

the site has been a key in my learning. I love it now, especially that its free so I can read all the post on my potential teachers. Alot of teachers frequent the site from school or so I have heard.
