Hi blondie, just wanted to let you know in regards to challenging the boards. I think it depends on the state you live in. In california I challenged the boards as a CNA as I had 50 months of acute care experience which is one of the requirements for california. The best way to find out is to locate your state boards as previously suggested.

Did the pay go up for LVN'S within the last month because when I worked there the pay was low $3385 per month

I got an offer to work at pelican bay prison and wanted to know if anyone has worked there and if they like it .

Thanks for your response. I hear the pay for the lvn's isn't that great since the changes occurred. I am now working for a good company at least until i get my RN.

BigB, are the state lvn's getting paid less than MTA's.

What is going on with California Corrections. I just had an interview with corrections and their not even hiring right now, infact they dont know when or if they will be. Iwish i would have known that before i drove all the way ouy there. sorry just venting. But i really feel bad for the MTA's who are going through a big change.

The name of the prison is valley state for women in the central valley. I understand that they changed from MTA positions to LVN (saftey). Was your interview with a panel.

Hi brunch, I go on my interview for corrections next week.I was just wondering How long after your interview did they tell you that you have the job.

Thanks everyone for your responses.I'm a new nurse and just want to learn the correct way to do things. I love the patients at the facility i just wish the company took out some time to explain some of their policies and procedures.

The facility you work at sounds very responsible. I was thrown on the floor not knowing any of the paper work information and everyone seems to busy to take time out to show me. but when I make a mistake sure enough I'm getting audited. A patients family asked about speech therapy and I don't even know their policy for that when asked the response was oh we will see and that was a week ago.

Do SNF give paper work oreintation.

No, I did not get to do the psych eval that was the next step. I was told that it usually takes about three months at the most, but it took me five and thats only because I called her. (background investigator)

Thank you guys for responding. I guess I need to start looking for another job.The thing that bothers me is it was a job 11 years ago.In the last 10 years my employers have nothing but good things to say. I just need to get back up and try again.

Has anyone ever been turned down by corrections.I applied 5 months ago and just found out that most likley i wont get the job.They wont tell me much about who gave a bad reference, other than it was an employer.

I'm from Cali ,so I won't get my results for at least 2 more weeks.

I took my nclex pn on 5-18-06 and the computer shut off at 85 questions.I feel like the biggest loser.
