  1. Woke up this morning around 3:30 AM I don't know why I checked again but sure enough I had passed. 75 questions (1st time test taker). I would like to offer words of encouragement to those waiting for results. I walked out of there on 5/15 convinced I failed. I had only 7 SATA questions. The BRN was also behind on entering my transcripts. It took 5 working days to post. To echo MaleNursesRock this test in no way defines you or your abilities as an R.N. Good luck to all! Dino (another male nurse)
  2. Took the NCLEX today stopped @ 75 questions only 7 SATA, plenty of priority and delegation questions and medications I had never heard of. Don't feel real good about it. Used the Kaplan review course and Qbank. Unlike some other students I felt Kaplan was easier than the actual test. Now I sit and wait. I might send my retest application in today to get a jump on retesting. I am concerned about retaining my job. I just got hired in an ER up in Northern California and I start orientation 6/2 I was hired with an IP but I lose that if i failed. Anyone have similar experiences? Do hospitals tend to keep you or let you go if you need to retest?
  3. Where on the CA BRN Website can you check your status?
  4. :welcome:Hi new and potential Samuel Merritt students! I am a current student in the Sacramento ELMNS-FNP program (1/2 way through third semester). I thought I would post and say hello. I remember how stressful it was prior to getting your acceptance and I know you have many questions. During first semester they establish a mentoring program of sorts and assign a number of students to a fourth semester student who (in theory) will help guide you through your subsequent semesters. If anyone is interested I am willing to help prior to that time. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to PM me and we can get in contact via phone or e-mail. Good Luck!
  5. you should be fine. Do you have a preference?
  6. I just got accepted to Samuel Merritt's ELMNS-FNP program. The GRE is not required. I had a 3.2 last 60 units and a 3.25 science. Competition was tough I think it was my experience six years as a paramedic/firefighter that made the difference. They do not focus strictly on grades. What kind of experience do you have????
  7. Thanks everyone! Starglitter, I hope you get the call soon.
  8. Hi starglitter, Thank you so much!!! I was really surprised... I hope you get the call!!! Describe yourself to me.. Where were you sitting? Talk to you soon...
  9. I didn't have to wait long at all. They called me the same evening and offered me early admittance! I was ecstatic but surprised, the competition was tough. Any other 2007 Sacramento ELMNS FNP students out there???
  10. I just got back from the Samuel Merritt ELMNS-FNP interview and to mirror what some have said it was a great experience. Now the agonizing wait begins...
  11. The academic counselor in Sacramento told me Samuel Merritt allows you one retest.
  12. Hi Diddle, That is interesting I took the NET @ Samuel Merritt in Sacramento at the end of may and had no science or grammar portion on my test???
  13. Are any of you familiar with history? The first nurses were male...
  14. Hey Labfreak, I applied to both programs. My first choice is the ELMNS-FNP but if I don't get in I would gladly accept a spot in the ABSN program. This will actually be year two in Sacramento, they started the ABSN last year. I toured the campus and it is set up really well. I have not spoken to any ABSN students but I have spoken to several ELMSN students and other than the cost they seemed happy with the program.
  15. Hi Eliza, I have also applied to the Sacramento ELMNS-FNP program. I spoke with the administrator a few days ago, she told me there are roughly 22 spots and the interviews would be held the first couple of weeks in August. She had yet to receive the applications from Oakland and since she does the GPA calculations no one has heard anything yet. Lets talk some more! Dino
  16. Labfreak, Thanks or your honesty... I assume you are in the oakland program? Have you heard anything about Sacramento?
  17. If you are practicing as a masters level FNP or currently in graduate school wouldn't that exempt you from further educational requirements (grandfathered in).
  18. Hi everyone, I am getting ready to send in my application for both programs the deadline is July 1st for fall 2007. Is anyone else applying to these programs? I am curious as to any information you may have heard regarding competitive gpa's, number of applicants, what they want in the personal statement etc., I have decent grades, six years experience as a paramedic and I completed the first semester of a JC nursing program with a 3.00 six years ago. I'm really nervous about the application procedure especially the essay. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated...
