I was taught to use pain as a fifth vital sign so i ask them if they are in pain and offer their pain meds to them i dont want to be in pain and i dont want my patients to be in pain. I tend to give more pain meds then some of the older rn's. Now i have to worry about who thinks i am diverting because i am proactive on pain control

great job for finding the courage to do what you did many would not have been able to do that give yourself some credit for that and hold your head up high as it could have been any of us in the same position you are

hi unfortuneatley i came across this a few times during my nicu days and it never got easier,even though you know they can not survive with trisomy 13 and all we can do is be there for the family and take pictures for the family even if they didn't want them we still kept them in case they ever changed their minds years down the road and we had a nurse who would pose the babies with out any of the tubes(after death of course) and take pictures for the family. i know it sounds kind of morbid but it was usually the only pictures the family had of their babies not with tubes

Hi I am 26 and get this all the time also,or I hear you look like so and so next our so and so grandaugter. I always ask them how old they think I am when they ask me how old I am and they always say 18. I always well good thing when I am 40 I will still be looking young.Don't let it get to you, you have the education and are more than competent to take care of them.

my last or job we got paid 4.00 and had time and half when called in and we had 30minutes to be there

if you ever think about leaving that hospital and transfering to another one, you might be lucky enough to get a higher salary and then you would wipe the slate clean.
