i did mine yesterday about an hour after my test (test was at 2pm) and got the good message i also wondered if at midnight it may change due to being a new day and did it again at 0005 and still got the good message and today at 1315 i seen my name on the OBN with RN behind my name and active so the PVT works !!!!

the PVT worked for me !!!!! i took the nclex yesterday at 2pm it cut off at 75 questions and i honestly thought i failed i went back and reviewed several questions and found that i picked the wrong answers and came home a hour later and did the PVT and got the the good pop up and it did not let me advance to the cc screen so i worried all night i didnt sleep and kept thinking i failed and there was no way i could have passed the pvt helped me keep my sanity a few times and today at 115pm my friend texted me and said check the OBN website and i did and i am now a RN in Ohio .thank god !!!!!:yeah::yeah::up::up: PVT works !!! timls3674

i just finished and it shut off at 75 questions and i am 100% sure i got the last question wrong i had some math calc's and maybe 8 to 10 SATA question and i just tried the PVT and it says i just took the exam and to contact my state board of nursing and didnt let me go to the cc screen ( i dunno how soon you can or cant do the PVT trick after taking the test, i did it maybe an hour and half after taking it) so i dont know what to think and all i do know is this is going to be along night i hope i passed ! timls3674

the case study is ... 51 y/o male post orthpedic surgery for a ORIF for bilateral wrist fractures and L tib fib fracture, when you as the nurse enter his room you find him to be agitated and dsypneic and he says " my chest hurts real bad and i cant breathe" The Doctor orders a ABG and the result of the ABG is: pH 7.47, Paco2 33.6mm Hg, Pa02 52mm Hg, HC03 24.2 , and BE -3, Sa02 83% first i have determined his ph is alkolotic, his Paco2 is alkolotic also, his HCO3 is within the normal range, and his BE of -3 is throwing me off I have tried to use the ROME to figure it out but i am stuck on this part, when i look at it i have determined that his Ph being high and his Pca02 being down it is respiratory alkolosis and looked at his HCO3 to be within normal limits so it isnt metabolic, however the BE is throwing me off being -3 is this correct ? respiratory alkolosis when using the ROME method and if the HCO3 is within the normal ranges can you rule out metabolic problem? for this case study the HCO3 was within the normals so did i follow the method for using ROME correctly to determine it wasnt a metabolic problem ? Uncompensated pH abnormal (high or low) One component abnormal (high or low CO2 or HCO3) The other component is normal (The component not causing the acid-base imbalance is still normal Partly compensated pH not normal (but moving toward normal) Both CO2 and HCO3 are outside normal range The component that was normal is changing in order to compensate Compensated pH normal Other values abnormal in opposite directions One is acidotic the other alkaline

i am studying acid base and i have checked out the info here and several other places and have a good concept of acid base and abg interpretation, however i am having a difficult time understanding the complete, partial compensation, i cant grasp the concept on how you tell if it is compensating or uncompensating based on the values given. i dont have any abg values to list basiclly i would like to figure out the concept so i can look at any abg value and figure it out. i have checked several of the links others have posted in the forums and that info is not helping me much if anyone coulds please explain it more in detail or point me to somewhere that explains it Thanks timls3674
