  1. I just replaced my toshiba because it got dropped and the screen shattered. I decided just to get a new one because to replace the screen it was $400 and I was having some other problems with it. I got a compaq presario and so far I love it. And they're not that expensive. I got a faster processor and more memory for about $300 less than my last laptop. Good luck
  2. I moved to Idaho from Cali and believe me it will never be a "California North". Personally, I don't like it here. So I'm going to finish up my education and as soon as I am done I'll be moving back to Cali. And as far as tons of Californians selling their houses, making alot of money and moving, can you really blame them? Cali is expensive to live and some people decide it's not for them anymore. It gets really old hearing people talk about how Californians are ruining everything.
  3. Thank you both for all the info. Corvette guy: congratulations on finishing your critical care course! I am going to talk to the army too. I am just waiting a little longer because I have awhile 'til I finish school so I'm just trying to gather some info on my own. thanks again :)
  4. Hi. I am thinking about joining the military after I finish nursing school. I'm not sure which branch yet though. I was enlisted in the army about 4 years ago. I just have some questions about nursing in the military. -Can someone tell me about retirement benefits? I know age is a big one but what are some other benefits over civilian retirement? -Do you ever get to choose a specialty? -Can you tell me how much you typically work? (days a week, ot) -For those that have been enlisted before becoming an officer, is there a huge difference or is it pretty much the same? Sorry if my questions seem dumb. I'm just trying to get some info so I can make an informed decision. Any info would be greatly appreciated! :)
  5. Hi. I'm getting ready to take A&P online in the fall at Boise State University. This will be my first semester there so I don't know how the school is. Good luck :)
  6. I'm from Cali and my sister lives in the bay area and she pays over $2000 for rent.
  7. Hi Amy. When I took the compass math test it starts out in pre algebra and the questions get harder each time you answer one correct. When you get one wrong it goes to an easier problem. I could only get so many wrong and then the test just ends. I'm not sure how high of a math level it goes to, we just had to worry about pre algebra, algebra, and college algebra. It had a lot of fractions and fraction type word problems, some graphing stuff, distance between 2 points, f(x) problems, ratios. I can't think of anything else right now but one thing that really helped me was I went to the library and did a search for compass books and they had a compass study guide that covers math and reading. And if you need to brush up on math (I did :) ) try math.com. Anyway, I hope this helps. Good luck.
  8. DATE RECEIVED: Apr. 7 PROGRAM: choice of associates or bsn SCHOOL: Boise State University STATE: Idaho STARTS: spring 07 I was so excited when I got THE letter. I've been getting a lot of stuff from school but today was the day!! Just want to say Congratulations and Good Luck to everyone :balloons:
  9. I got my letter today.....I'M IN!!!!! :yelclap: I am so excited. I start spring 07. Thanks for all your support!!!
  10. Thanks for all of your messages. Just wanted to keep you guys posted...still waiting for the letter, they say they should be mailing them soon. They weren't supposed to be sent out until May but I guess they're going to start mailing in a week or so. So, I'm excited about that.
  11. Hi. The school I applied to makes you take a compass test (math and reading) for admission. They don't go off of gpa or anything like that just these test scores for admission. A perfect score is 198 and I got a 196 so I was thinking that was really good. Last month I called the school to talk to them about my score and the lady said that my scores were good and I shouldn't worry about it. Today I had an appt with an advisor and she said 50 people go a perfect score and the program has 120 spots. So now I'm feeling really discouraged because I don't think my score is good enough. I'm just disappointed because I really wanted to get in and now I don't know what to do....
  12. I had to take the reading and math compass test at my school and they only go off of these scores for admission (no prereqs or gpa, etc). Anyway, the reading test is very easy and there was no time limit. Mine was on the computer and you read a short passage and then answer five questions. I think there was probably 4 or 5 passages and then the questions that followed each. GOOD LUCK!!!
  13. I am a pre-nursing student, still waiting to see if I get accepted for fall '06. I haven't read all of these posts (you can only read so much negativity) so sorry if I'm repeating what someone has already said. It seems like discouraging future nurses from coming into the field is only going to make problems worse (staffing shortages, nurse to patient ratio, overtime, etc). If more people become nurses wouldn't that solve some of these problems and relieve some stress? If you're unhappy in your career, then you should do something about it. To all of us future nurses- keep your head up, keep positive, and good luck on your new career.
  14. I'm still waiting too. I won't know anything until May. It seems like forever!! The school I applied to goes off of nursing test scores and no prereqs are required to get in. So, I guess if I don't get in this time I'll just take some prereqs and try again next year. Good Luck to everyone!! :)
