  1. Yeah, I guess you're right...I plan on calling and asking one or both of the doctors monday why she told me I was let go. Its just that when emotions kick in for me and fear and stress and worry its fight or flight reaction for me. I couldnt deal with the place after how she treated me so I didnt even think to reply to the doctors when they asked me. I was too embarrassed with my face in tears like that also. I dont think I'm gonna get any sleep tonight..
  2. Okay, so I understand its a respect for your elders type of world in nursing...which comes really easy for me. I have immense respect for older, more seasoned nurses because most are good teachers to young and/or newer nurses like myself. But regardless of my age I feel its extremely unfair what happened to me today. I mean I even sacrificed a high stress/higher paying nursing home job and benefits for this one because I want surgery experience. I feel like I took a huge gamble and lost...And I just wonder...What gives her the right to lie and say she talked it over with the doctors to make the decision to let me go today when the doctors that actually hired me didn't have a clue I've been "let go" when I stormed out the door? They both asked me "Where are you going???" with confused looks on their faces. I just wonder how did she get the final say in firing me...I thought doctors run the office and they should have the final say in hiring/firing decisions??????????
  3. Wow, I'm trying to type through tears right now & just got done trying not to hyperventilate from this. Here's how it went...I quit a LTC/Skilled facility a couple weeks ago to be at this job..an oral surgeon's office. The LTC facility was sooo stressful for me...being charge nurse fresh out of school and taking care of 45 residents by myself....Anyway the nurse that decided to hire me told me today at the end of the day in one of the x ray rooms that her and the doctors came to a decision to let me go d/t not learning the job quick enough...and its only been 2 weeks for me there!! There's a 4 week training period... And she lied, because when I grabbed my purse and stormed out of the place the doctors asked where I was going, and I said What you didnt know? I got fired!!! I asked her why did you hire me if you knew that I have no oral surgery or hygienist experience and hardly any nursing experience?? I know I'm a fairly quick learner but like most people I get nervous when I'm starting a new job. I think that is the shadiest any manager has ever treated me before. I've only been an LPN since march, and already I've been fired twice. Once as a GPN and today. I feel like giving up nursing forever, I've never been treated this way at any previous job, getting fired for what seems like no reason whatsoever..I know I'm a good nurse and a caring person, I take care of my pts to the best of my ability. So I don't know how I deserved this?! I would have never quit the nursing home if I knew this was gonna happen. I feel dumbstruck right now...I got along with everyone there including the doctors... Well..thanks for reading my vent. :trout:
  4. I'm an LPN that just graduated in March and my mom has been an RN for 17 years but she was an LPN first then an RN. She always teases me that I'm just a "Let's Pretend Nurse" while she's a "Real Nurse" . I am going to become an RN soon though because I honestly miss school and want to go back lol Plus more pay is nice too.
  5. I was a GPN for a LTCF that I did my preceptorship in during school for 2 months after I graduated in March and I'm an LPN now in a different LTCF. It was a fairly easy job being a GPN, all they made me do was help aides and nurses with things such as vitals, assessments, admissions, taking residents to dr's appointments, transfering/lifting, patient care and learning from the nurses on other various tasks. The only things I could not do as a GPN was pass meds, do treatments, call docs, and charting. You should bring a stethoscope, penlight, and pen and paper. When do you take the NCLEX? Good luck with the new job and the NCLEX!
  6. I am a new grad in Ohio and I just got my first job in LTC. They are starting me out at $15.50/hr and since i'm gonna work 3rd shift (6p-6a) I get a $1 an hour shift differential and I think either $1 or $2 an hour bonus on the weekends, full time, w/ benefits. I start sunday, wish me luck all! :)
  7. Yes the nclex was pretty hard. The questions on there were either really easy or really hard. I was shocked that I passed it..but anyone who passes school can pass this test. Just be sure to buy a study book to study for it. I have Mosby's guide to nclex-pn and I studied for about 2 months prior to the test.
  8. Well I did pass the test I found out Friday that I did :balloons::monkeydance: I got 85 questions on it
  9. Hi, I'm a new grad and I'm 21 & I was the 2nd youngest student in my class. I graduated in march and I will be taking nclex in 2 days and I'm very nervous to say the least! I'm currently working in LTC and never had medical experience before school and I'm doing what God called me to do and I don't see myself doing anything else!
  10. I graduated LPN school 3/23/07 and am now scheduled to take NCLEX-PN 4/25/07...I am working currently in LTC as a GPN (graduated practical nurse) where I did my preceptorship at and I am studying my nclex practice test book and praying every day that I will pass it....I'm getting more and more nervous as the time gets closer....any thoughts or advice about the test or ways to decrease my anxiety about it would be helpful!! :smackingf
