  1. Hi All, CT Nurse starting homemaker/companion (non-medical) home care agency. Hoping someone (preferably who has owned or owns a Homemaker/Companion agency) to provide me with some guidance. The home care agency I am starting up will be located in Connecticut. I have already registered, received state tax id, and etc..... website complete. What I need assistance with is Insurance Claim forms to submit to LTC companies? And what forms do I need the client to sign once they agree to accept service from my agency? All info will be helpful. Thank you!
  2. Cherielpn23, Im a new grad LVN and work in LTC. I received 5 weeks of orientation and I am still making mistakes! On average I have to pass meds and do treaments on 30 patients. If I take a break, I will get wayyyyy behind. Although I am still working at the LTC facility, I am filling out applications elsewhere. After 2 months of LTC, I realize that LTC is not what I want to do. Its wearing me down being on my feet so many hours so dont feel bad! And with only a couple of days of orientation, they should be thankful a dressing change is the only thing you forgot. Good Luck from one new nurse to another!
  3. Thank you for the encouragement iwillbanurse08! I needed that! I graduate from my LPN program in 12 weeks, and have been trying to find a job in a LTC facility for months now as a CNA. I was hoping once I graduated I would be offered a LPN position, but no one is calling me back! If it's tough finding work as a CNA, I know it will be harder once I graduate. I feel like pulling my hair out! But, I will remain calm and hopeful! GOD Bless and good luck to everyone in this economy:nurse:
  4. :) Thank you CT Pixie! I have already applied to St. V's. I will continue to keeo my fingers crossed. I was hoping for something within a LTC facility though, because the area hospitals do not hire LPN's only RN's.
  5. :stdnrsrck: I am a current LPN student that will graduate in May 2011. I recently became CNA certified because I really need a job, and I wanted to find a position in a LTC facility where I can branch into the LPN role after I graduate. Does anyone know of ANY LTC facilities that will hire a new CNA? All of the LTC facilities that I have applied to state they are either looking for someone with 6mos - 1yr experience. Whats a new CNA to do?!? I thought my experience in LTC facilities for the past 10 mos while in the LPN program would help me out, but I am not hearing back from any of the faciilties I applied to. Who's hiring?! Btw.....I live in Fairfield County (not picky, willing to travel)
  6. I am attending the LPN program @ ECPI now. :) Yes....it is expensive, but a couple of things to remember...you truly do not know the final cost of the program until you have met with the financial aid counselor. I see a lot of members posting threads about how "they heard" the program is too expensive. The "final" cost of the program is different for each individual. Grants and scholarships are available (financial aid counselor will let you know your options) and if you quailfy, they usually take off between $7-10k off your program total. If you do need financial aid, the minimum you would have to pay is $75 a month, which gets deducted from your loan. In these economic times, sometimes the best thing is to pay a little more now to ensure you have job security in the future. All of the community colleges/hospitals have long waiting lists. If you have the time and job stability to wait great for you, but for the rest of us ..."We want it now":nurse: P.S - For all my FT employed folks, ECPI have a great evening program
  7. I am currently enrolled in an LPN program. Still have a while to go yet, but I am seriously considering the home care route once I graduate. If you have any experience in the home care setting, please take a minute and answer the following questions. Thnx:redpinkhe What is the avg amount per visit an agency will pay you? How long are you required or is there a time limit to stay with each patient? How many patients can you see per day? Do most agencies provide mileage reimbursement? Which is more fulfilling to you? Home Care or hospital setting? Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer:nurse:
  8. Hi Everyone, I have a few questions about ECPI. Hopefully, someone will have the answers I need. How much does the LPN Program cost in total? Do they offer day and evening classes? How often do there classes start? Most importantly, is there a waiting list? Are there any other LPN programs in the area? Thanks in Advance for your help!
  9. Hi Everyone, I will hopefully be starting the Nursing program in Jan 2007 at Wright Tech technical school, but in case I am not accepted, I would like to have a back up plan. Can anyone give me insight on the Nursing program at St. Vincents? Do they offer evening courses? How much does the program cost? Is there a waiting list to enter the Nursing program? And do they choose the people with the top GPA's first? Thanks everyone!
  10. i hate chemistry!!!!!!!!!! :angryfire :angryfire this is my second attempt at chemistry, and i still dont understand it. could someone please tell me if there are any chemistry help websites, or offer me words of advice on how to pass chem? if so, i would greatly appreciate it. im stuck on unit analysis/unit factor problems. a dermatology patient is treated with ulraviolet light having a wavelength of 375 nm. what is the wavelength expressed in centimeters? so the answer in the back of the book is 0.0000375cm, but i dont know what was done to come up with the answer:uhoh3: :uhoh3: thanks the chem hater
  11. I am taking the NET. How long is the test? How is it graded? Is it timed?
  12. hi everyone, ct future nurse here, and i was wondering, has anyone taken the pre-entrance exam for the lpn program? is it hard? what is on the test? and last but not least, how do they grade? sorry for all the questions, but i just made an appt. to take the exam, and im a bit nervous:uhoh21:
