  1. congratulations!!!!! the journey to become an rn is over, but your real journey has just begun! enjoy!!!
  2. I also use Saunders NCLEX-RN review book for studying...its a very good source!
  3. :yeah:Congratulations!
  4. I only used the practice exams, Fundamentals of Nursing textbook, and a NCLEX-RN examination book.
  5. Great Job! I also passed Health Safety today! Im excited to move on to the next exam!
  6. I wanted to let everyone know that I passed the exam with an "A" today! Thanks for the prayers each of you! Now I'm moving on to the next one:)
  7. Im on Hawaii time and its going on midnight....I better go to bed now. I just want to thank each of you above for sending your prayers up and including me and my situation in them. I know that with God on my side I can only win (if its in His will of course)! I'll see this board tomorrow and thanks again!
  8. I will be taking Health Safety tomorrow morning, so I need everyones prayers today! I have been faithful in my study attempts- I've taken the practice tests and received grades of 82 and 76, plus I've studied the NCLEX-RN book and the Fundamentals books- and I know that Im ready. Regardless of the above, I need the stenghth of the Lord to carry me through (sometimes I get nervous and due to the cost....that is not going to work for me this time lol) to vistory. So, I am asking everyone who reads this thread to just say a prayer for me and help me stay motivated through this program. I will really appreciate it!
  9. I am scheduled to take the Health Safety Exam on Monday. I am very nervous about taking the exam. I do not want to fail. I took the first practice exam last week and made a 82, but I dont want to take the second practice exam until maybe Saturday or Sunday. I didnt study before the first one and I found it to be refreshing how much information I remembered from my traditional first semester nursing course. I hope to take the practice exams for each exam after this and I plan to hopefully test every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. I have known about this program for years now and I cringe at myself everytime I think of how much I procrastinated. I think it is definitely important to motivate ourselves and each other.
  10. Is the Tina cpne workshop everyone is discussing out of Pennsylvania? I just want to make sure that I pick the right one.
  11. How long did you study between exams and how long did it take you to complete all of the nursing courses? This question is also open to others.
  12. I appreciate the empathy Lisa from Maui! However, I must clarify my earlier comments. I was referring to the individuals who have internalized my initial question/concern about KCC and thus responded in a negative tone. I was merely stating that it was unnecessary. Nonetheless, you have helped me to see that I will not get the type of response I so desire if I do not give it out. Its just that when you are tagging alongside your spouse and at every tour you attempt to go to school and then on the next tour its a whole different set of rules...it gets a little bit more frustrating. Also, I assumed that because Hawaii is still apart of the USA that it would operate in our favor, but I was mistaken in this instance. Anyway thanks Lisa from Maui for listening and understanding.
  13. You know, I am just so sick and tired of people hiding behind the computer! If you ask a question for clarity...it seems as if there are always a select few of individuals who have to flex their lack of social skills or ability to respond with respect for the forum. And since we accompany our military spouses to and from place to place while possibly missing out on our own educational needs, the places we go always seem to have the most ungrateful, misunderstanding, cold-hearted citizens for no reason in my opinion. The way I see it, if they don't want to accomodate other people then why do we even have to tour in these locations. Hawaii is a part of the UNITED States of American and things are just so different here, so thanks to the respectful responses and to hell with the others. And yes, you can get back behind your computers and type away because I'm done reading.
  14. Hi, I am just trying to get some clarity on Kapiolani's RN program. I am a military spouse and am new to the island, so I called this college and was told that they do not take non-residents. Well do they mean non-resident because I have not been here a year yet or do they mean never? I just don't want to waste my time trying to get into this school if I don't have a chance at all.
  15. Does EC ever set up preceptor programs for their students? Is it possible to train with a preceptor before taking the cpne? Any ideas on what to do to ensure no fail attempts?
  16. I must say that I don't think your confidence in your craft is a bad thing...if you don't believe in your abilities who will? I, too, am working on more than one degree program at this time and I have just made the solid decision to finally complete Excelsiors RN program. I am not working and must budget the program out, but I plan to be done in a year to a year and a half. When I got on this forum I was looking for someone who was a get-it-done type of person and not afraid to embark on the challenge that is distance learning nursing...you were the only one to reply. Also, I like the way you put the whole nursing job situation into perspective. I possess a desire to be the best nurse there is and I won't accept anything less than that for myself, so please let's keep in touch and motivate one another.
  17. Thanks for replying...I thought there weren't any people on HI doing EC. I'm wondering what has been your experience while doing Excelsior? your hardest exams? easiest exams? are you an lpn already? are you located on the island of Oahu? Im not new to allnurses, but new to ACTUALLY STARTING the EC program forreal this time. I will accompany my husband to the island bec he's military and this is the best option for me to complete a nursing program w/o continually starting over.
  18. I know, but I have to prepare in advance because my hubby is the only working person. But, from your post I will gather that after all of my test are done then I can pay for the cpne, right?
  19. I am trying to budget for this program and I need to know when you have to pay for the CPNE? Did most people use the pay your way enrollment option and then take the remaining exams (not including health safety or health differences)?
  20. Thanks for the grid bjbabs24
  21. "There might be a brick wall in front of you. If you really want something bad enough, you have to find a way around it". This quote is going to go with me everyday...I love it!!! Thank you for this one.
  22. You know what...you are both right! I need to take this one step at at time and the rest will come later.
  23. I believe that it is normal to be nervous about the cpne, however I am debating whether or not I can really complete it. The exams shouldn't be an issue. I just think that I am allowing the thoughts about the end of the program to stop me from completing the first part. I really need some advice about my cpne jitters...am I the only one who has or does feel this way? Will the confidence come the closer I get to doing it? Why do you think people fail it? What is the key to passing it?
  24. I began my medical journey as a military medic, then a nursing assistant, and then I completed the first semester of RN school. I completed all of my prereqs except microbiology and I want to take that this summer. Well, in between that time frame I got married to a wonderful man, I have a 5 year, and a baby due anyday with my son. The dillemma is that I haven't completed my task of completing my RN and now I can't take it anymore. I intend to take two exams a month also. I think the hardest thing for me is getting over the uneasiness about the cpne. I keep hearing about the practice test, so I think I will take one tomorrow.
