  2. Hi, Could you explain me that if a patients is having cataract than how to check his response to light, because of opacity sometimes it becomes very difficult to check the response. 3. This assignment is not fair. CABG pts having a lot of work and with this much of inotropic suport, heavy ct drainage, blood transfusion, fluids with another post craniotomy pts. I work in a ctvs icu where our assignments are for the ventilated pts are 1:1, there are no chance to have a second patient with atleast a post 24 hrs cabg pts. In your case refusal of assignment is the only solution, and it has been seen when a shift incharge is bais to a particular staff they assign like this without thinking impact of this on patients life who need a single staff. 5. Dear suzzane, I have one questions regarding US nurses working overseas, if ANY US nurse who works in a country where earning is tax free, If they do not remmit their money to US than also they have to pay taxes to US govn. as they are the citizen of US. God bless you ! Mahirn
  6. Pay scale in comparison with US hospital is quite good , as u dont have to pay any tax here, comodities are cheap in compaison with US and the best is stress of job is less. Here for the head nurse salary is around $ 3500-4000/month and i think there is no much difference if u calculate ur salary after paying your all taxes there and in this salary. mahirn:trout:
  7. Dear Suzanne You dont have to pay any taxes here in UAE whatever you earn. It depends on your country from where you are that they need tax on money which you have earned in foreign country. For examaple if any Indian who works overseas and earns there than the Indian govn. will not take a single cent of tax from that amount, because you are increasing the foreign currency and economic of that country. I am not aware about this that in US you have topay taxes on overseas earned money. Mahirn
  8. HI, I am working in the UAE, here whole what u earn is tax free, no any single cent you have to spent on your taxes. Salary is around $ 1700-$2500/ month and it depends upon your experience.Working conditions are quite good here, as i am working with a hospital which is affiliated with John Hopkins, Baltimore, US. All the policies and other things are all as US standards.Secondly here very good chances for the western educated nurses, till now gulf nursing jobs are dominated by Indians and Fillipinos but now and in future they are giving preferance to western educated nurses. However you need some experience to join this growing region but some agencies also give oppurtunities to fresh graduates. If you earn here good money than life is quite good and very fast. Before coming here you have to get your certificates like Nursing degree and your 10 th standard certificate attested by the UAE embassy in your country. Thats all about here. if you want to know something more mail me. Mahirn
  9. When you are pulling out a sheath it is always important that you keep an eye on the cardiac monitor and frequently ask your patient how he is feeling. Secondly always keep inj. atropine in your hand if patient developes vasovagal so we can revert him immediatly. To prevent hematoma only you need a good pressure post sheath removal in bitween check the pedal pulses and ask the patient if he is feeling numbness below the pressure point in leg. Mahirn
  10. The idea behind waste removal from a art line or cvl is fluilds and flush which is flowing in lines interfere with the results thats why we remove some blood before taking the actual sample. Second thing how much we should we remove it depends on which type of line pt is having. Thirdly now new studies dont support returning of waste which was taken with open system-source of contamination as mentioned in all above posts, now with new system in which we dont remove the syringe from line can be returned back. so always be wise what type of system you are using and act accordingly. Mahirn
  11. Nonheparinised, now heperinised saline is stale to use as a continous flush for arterial and other transducer lines. New studies show it is contraindicated and raising the chance of bleeding in those who already have abnormal coagulation as we use heparinised as our old practice. so for now only non-hep. Mahirn
  12. Abcd Of Ecg Is The First And Vital Thing To Learn And Work In Ccu Because Cardiac Patients Dint Give U Enough Time To Hang On Ecg And All So You Have To Be Through In This. Mahirn
  13. Hi dear, it will be very difficult to become a nightingale for me or you. Because she was serving the needy without any personal benefit we today's nurses are serving the needy for money. 14. overseas oppurtunities for us nurses in middle east. some of the very good hospital in united arab emirate are keen to provide jobs for western educated nurses. here in emirates most of the hospitals prefer to give oppurtunity to us nurses. to get work permit and migrate to these countries you have to first clear hospital pretest and interview. if you are successful in that than they will forward you some formalities papers you fill those papers and forward. dont forget to get stamped your document like your degree certificate from the embassy of that middle east country in the us. in most of middle east countries earning is tax free, free housing and much more is provided. links of the hospital in dubai and other emirates who prefer to hire western nurses: http://www.tawam-hosp.gov.ae http://www.belhoulspeciality.com mahirn
