  1. Working in LTC, I get all sorts of funny statements from patients. A couple that stand out are: An alzheimer patient was taking off her pants at the nurses station and I was trying to explain that she couldn't do that and she told me "you act like you've never seen a bare butt before" I told her, you have no idea how many bare butts I've seen. Another guy told me "It's ok if you gain a little bit of weight" and I said why and he said "'cuz there is a whole lot more of you to love" This came when I was going through a divorce and, yes, gaining weight due to the stress.
  2. I did medical billing for several years, became a nurse, worked in a nursing home for 4 1/2 years, swored I'd never become a nurse again, did medical billing again, started going to school to become a programmer, worked doing technical support, then came back to nursing and realized that is where my heart is. Now I'm working on my BSN and graduating in June 2008. Tina
  3. Just hang in there! You can do anything you set your mind to. Things always seem to happen in nursing school. When I was in LPN school, we had a death in the family and I had a miscarriage and right now in RN school, we've been in for 2 years and have had 3 divorces and 3 babies being born (neither related to the other thank goodness;)) Keep plugging away.
  4. I know that here in Colorado it isn't required but more and more hospitals are requiring it because they are trying to get their magnet status.
