The value of bedside nurses cannot be underestimated. They will save you from the perils of the health care system, they are the best weapon you have to battle your vulnerability when seriously ill. Not a single one of them who choose to remain at the bedside lack ambition. On the contrary, they exude courage. Their work is HARD. Their reward resides in their conscience, in their soul. Never underestimate how dependent you are on the bedside nurse when you are ill. Your life is literally in their hands. They make the difference between a medical or system oversight and a footstomping insistence to change what's been "ordered," often despite belittlement or resistance. Now how can someone with that responsibility possibly be perceived as lacking ambition? THANK YOU TO ALL BEDSIDE NURSES! You save lives.
