  1. I took the NLN on 1/12/07 and I received my test scores back about 2 weeks ago. So don't sweat it you will get them and you will do a lot better then you think you did.
  2. I am getting Landau for now since that is what I have to get for school. I really like the length of the Dickies but they are a little snug on the hips! I have sworn of drawstring pants they kept sliding off and wouldn't stay tied!!! I don't want to worry about my pants falling off:lol2: ! I did end up with a petit small in pants and just a small in the top!!! thanks for your help!
  3. I am sooo glad I'm no the only!!!!! My husband tells me all the time that you can't be a nurse if you can't find scrubs that fit! I will check out some of these and see what I can find. Thanks a ton for your help.
  4. Ok, I need to get a few sets of scrubs but I can't find anything that fits me. I'm 4'9" and 110lbs. NOTHING fits me. I do have hips and everything thats lenght wise is made for a stick person and if it fits hips wise it is made for a normal height person:lol2: . At least I can laugh at the fact that I'm really short! Anyway, Anyone have any ideas other then heming everything I buy? (Not to handy with the sewing machine) Thanks
  5. thank you for not totally dogging me on this. I was just trying to make a point that if the weather had not been hot ..... I just was making the point that this was probably not the first time this poor child had been subjected to the stupidity of this kind of behavior from it's mother. I have a 2 yr and a 9 yr and just have no way of understanding the thought process of leaving a child in a car or alone for that matter.
  6. Ok just a question I'm sure you guys can answer. Could the baby dehydrate and die in 9 hours if it was perfectly heathy and taken care of otherwise? What I'm getting at is other then the hard core proof of stupidity on this mother's part, could this child have still been alive if it had been in perfect health condition. Please don't think for one second I'm condoning this I'm NOT. I just seem to think this child was not ever properly taken care of the poor little soul.
  7. GA isn't bad once you get outside of ATL. We live in Northeast GA and my mom is buying a house for $228,400 w/ 3 bd/2.5ba 2100sq' on a full basement with 1+ acres! Not to shabby here!
  8. ATL is a hard place to get in to the healthcare field. I'm in classes for a CNA and I have tried everything from housekeeping to office work for a Hospital with no luck. Nursing Homes are a different matter especially if you are an LPN you should not have much a problem getting into one. I think that Piedmont and Crawford Long have some LPN stuff also. I'm finally going on an interview but it took someone I know telling the director of their department about me. DO NOT go through HR call unit Director's directly and tell them what you are looking for. Leave a message and if you don't hear back call again. Good Luck.
  9. Lanier Tech aslo has a program. Don't know much about it but I'm start Summer Quarter! I have also heard Georgia Perimeter is not a good one either. But I have no first hand knowledge of that.
  10. Ok so I'm declined for an interview even for a housekeeping position. I can change sheet and use a wahing machine. Oh well the right job will come I just need to pray that Gad will put me in the right place at the right time.
  11. Ok at least I know I'm not alone! Ok explaine to me why I would be declines to be a housekeeper?????? I mean the qualifications for the job were: Must be literate and will provide on the job training. I may be blonde but I promise I can read and write and follow directions. It just doesn't make any sense and no one can seem to give me an answer when I call HR as to why I have not been selected to at least interview. Amazing to me. My DH was laughing last night and said no wonder they claim to have a shortage they won't hire anyone!!!
  12. Ok I have applied fro everything from House keeping to CNA to PCT (no experiance required) and I can't even get a call back. :angryfire I have only taken 2 classes so far but I have a 4.0 and I'm willing to work any shift. I just had no idea it would be this hard to get even a phone call back with the major shortage of anyone in healthcare. I don't expect to get the perfect life long position but heck I can clean a floor and wash sheets:lol2: . I just want my foot in the door. Ok so to whine:uhoh21: I'm just annoyed right now.
  13. Thank you thank you thank you soooo much. I have talked with two people already and they have been very nice. I knew someone on here could give me something great to say. Thanks again!:thankya: :thankya:
  14. Ok, I have been told that in order to really get a chance at getting on at any of our local hospital's you need to leave a message for or talk to the Nurse Manager for the department you are interested in. I am trying to get a job as a PCA since I'm just in a CNA program now. What is an apporprate message to leave in regards to being interested in a position? Thanks for your help I know all of you will be able to give me something great!
  15. Ok I have made contact with HR at AMC! They were very nice and sent me to the person that hires PCA's. I left her a message so hopefully that will at least put a flick of light in my corner:idea: when she looks at my resume'. I have also had 2 conversation's with a CEO of an LTC. Things are looking somewhat better in the begging process of getting your first job in the medical field.:balloons: I'm going to start calling hospital's and talking HR directly to at least put a voice with the paper. I'm done with calsses unitl April so it would be nice to get something in the mean time.
  16. I would love to work Grady ER in about a million years when I get done with school! Lordy Grady would be hard and I can only imagine what you would get in the door! Best of luck to both of you!
  17. I got a 91 in Medical Term and I'm done until April!!!:balloons: Thank you all for your responses. It is nice to know someone is as happy as me! Thanks:biggringi
  18. I'm so excited! I took my finaly this weekend and I made a 92 in the class!:balloons: Just wanted to share!
  19. The only thing they did was a stool sample and sent us on our way. He has pooped 3 times since 7:00am today. I have a call into the doctor now. I would rather them tell me it is kool aide then act like I'm stupid. If I haven't heard anything by this afternoon I'm taking him to Children's Health in ATL. I owuld rather they keep him and make sure this isn't something major.
  20. Ok I just got off the pnone withthe ER nurse who told me tht it is still pending and if he is still having the problem to call his doctor. Ok I'm not one to normally get ill with something like this I understand it takes awhile but my child has blood and mucuos in his poop and can't keep anything on his stomach. No he isn't running a fever and no he isn't throwing up and yes he is acting ok until his tummy hurts and he poops yes he is sleeping more then normal. I just know being his mother that his color isn't right and something is wrong. Oh and they will call only if it comes back positive. Well that is fine and dandy but what are you testing for what would be positive or negative? Of course she isn't sure. You mean you jut sent it off and said see what you can find? Sorry to vent but this is annoying.
  21. Ok, I have a 2 yr and on Monday night he had mucous and blood in his very loose stool. He has had loose one for about a week now. I called the doctor of course never got a call back.:angryfire In a matter of 15 mins he had 3 more stools and had gone from looses to runny all with the same stuff in it. I took him to the ER and now is my question. Waht is standard proceedure for something like this? The Dr. came in for about 2mins max and said to get a stool sample since what was in the diaper wasn't enough and I never saw him again. My 2yr pooped in the "Hat" and was proud of himself to say the least then they sent us on our way and I haven't heard a word. I did call yesterday and they said I would know something in 2 to 3 days. So I guess I just hope that he isn't loosing to much blood since it is still happening? Any advice would be great. Thanks Beth
  22. I have apllied to s few of the nursing homes and assisted living center's around my house. At this point I have decided taht some experiance is better then nothing. I have also applied for clerical postion's. I have alredy taken Medical Term so I'm good to go in that field. It is annoying that they all need so much help and it is so hard to find a job. I can't get the experiance I need if no one will give me a chance. A family member of mine wrote me cover letter.. I understand I have no formal training. However I am skilled in multitasking, wipping hind ends, changing diapers, feeding, being thrown up on and cleaning it up, disruptive behavior and general care giving duties. Of course we both got a great laugh out of. Please don't throw me to the dogs I understand perfectly well that a ton more is involved with any position's in health care. This just gave us a good laugh.
  23. A 2 hour interview???? I would be a nervouse wrack! I don't mind doing interviews but tha is like sit in!!! I have spoken to 2 hospital's that told me to e-mail my resume' right way. I guess that is a good thing. They kind fo did a mini interview on the phone I told them I was making a career change and had no experiance. One said it didn't really matter they would train me for 6 weeks. So I'm waiting to hear back from my brother on if my resume' is up to snuff! 3 of the hospital's I have to go in and fill out an application and attach my resume'. Of course they accept resume's M-W 10a - 2p. I will just have to take a day off work and go around and fill out applications! I will make it in at some point they will get tired of me!! Thanks
  24. Thanks! I am going to work on my resume at lunch and then I will call once I apply for a position. Great Idea! Thanks again.
  25. Ok I am currently in a CNA program. I have never worked in health care before and I can not seem to get a job doing anything in a hospital. Does anyone have any pointers as to how ou get on? I really would like to get a job ASAP even if it is clerical for now. My boss is going to have problem with me needing to leave early next quarter. I figure best thing to do is bow out now so that I'm not left looking for a job without one. Thanks
