Drexel RN to BSN..Anyone?
Hi, I'm also interested in the RN to BSN online, I hate to ask more specifics, but how much more expensive. I live in Central Florida, so UCF requires me to have an AA in additon to the AS I just finish in june. I'm also interested in the MSN NP degree that Drexel offers. How many semester would it take to complete the BSN @ Drexel? Im trying to figure out wheter I could afford it? Thanks for your input!

RN to BSN online
I met with the UCF counselor and she stated I must have an AA before I can be accepted into the RN to BSN program. I would need approximately 2-3 more classes to complete the AA, however If I could start my RN to BSN with my AS, it would be quicker, not to mention $$ and time, I'm no spring chicken. I believe St Petersburg accepts an AS in nursing? I already took the college chemistry that UCF requires.

RN to BSN online
Hello, I just wanted to ask what are the requirements for the RN to BSN program. I just finished my AS in nursing(transition from LPN to RN) in Orlando. How often do you have to go to campus/clinicals? UCF requires a an AA, I don't have time to take more classes to do an AA if I don't have to. I'm just curious to know how often would I have to drive from Orlando to Tampa. How expensive was your first semester? I asppreciate your input. Thanks! George

need hope and direction
I totally agree with Spider, if you failed one of the transition classes, you should be allowed to repeat it. Depending on the school you might have to fill in a request for re-admission( should not be a big deal). If they won't let you, then what about a online progam such as the college network? Whatever you do, do not give up. I am starting transition med surg in august after I failed it, and I'm not looking back. Sometimes things do happen for a better reason and you might just need to refocus and regroup, but never give up. Hang in there and rock on! nonenino:)

Nursing Shortage? Yeah right...
I'm with my Florida colleague, I work as an LPN at a level 1 trauma ER(unheard of in the northeast right?) and currently in the RN transition. I think you set your own expectations and then surpass everybody elses. Once I graduated from PN I had more clinical experience than ADN graduates who've never been on a hospital. If any of you is having a hard time finding a job as an RN,move to Florida. Florida hospital is building expansions at all their hospitals. If you want to be a LPN and work at a long term facility, you can do that. If you want to go on to a transition, you can do that as well. Is all how much you want to learn and excel. Whatever you decide to do, break a leg! good luck!

Is it too late for me?
Agree 150% with all the posts. You're never too old for anything. I'm 38, doing my RN transition, married, 2 small children. Is all about how bad do you want to achieve your goals and how much you want to learn. The sky is the limit. You're making the right decision. I would also like you to check out the story of former US surgeon General, Dr. Richard Carmona, he is quite a source of inspiration and motivation, and by the way, he is also a nurse! http://www.hhs.gov/about/bios/sg.html Good luck and God bless you. Rock on!

Poll: As a male in Nursing school, my goal/desire is to work in this area....
Hello guys, I'm an EMT, worked in the ER for 5 yrs as a tech, graduated from LPN in December and starting the LPN to RN transition in June. Definitely must work to support my family of 3. The hospital I work for has a graduate nurse program where you get to rotate through different units before you decide where you want to work. I feel that the ER is my natural choice, but while I'm in school to complete RN I may work in the recovery unit of the outpatient surgery. Not sure yet, haven't rotated through the good old ER, the call maybe too strong. The unit educator coordinator told me that us guys are meant for the ER/ICU/critical care and of course flight nursing. But hey, whatever gives you the most gratification. I think 90% is to keep your fellow female nurses(and boss) happy! One of the ER nurses once told me that we are the buffers of the unit. Rock on guys!
