ER RN to EMT?
I can tell you this, I was a Paramedic before I got my BSN. I am now a flight nurse and teachat a community college where many get thier EMT training. I read the replies and seems that Boring comes up allot. Ican say this. My students who are RNs who go through the EMT part are usually amazed at how much they do not know. There are many thigns that EMTs do inthe field nurses do not. I think you will find the classes exciting and challanging.

Pay Scale for Flight Nurses?
Sad as it is I make about 9 dollars more an hour in the ER. Flight Nursing pays allot less here. The perk is that we work, (as full timers) two 24hr shifts a week, so that is 8 hrs of OT a week. Sometimes we work one 24 and two 12s but still the OT is there. I love my job as a Flight Nurse and would never leave but the pay is horrible. Fiqure that one out. :balloons:

paramedic nursing
Not sure where you are from but here in Ohio there are a few nurse to paramedic classes around. They are ususally through a local community college. I know Tri-C has some. Hope this helps. My other suggestion would be to go online to your local paramedic divsion and search there. In Ohio EMS falls under the division of public safety. Good luck!:balloons:

Interesting Flight stories
After 12 years as a transport medic and now 2 as a flight nurse I think I have seen it all but no, we see something new everyday. Last trauma I went on I was informed my PD that "Oh before you tube him, I want you to know I took his 3 guns, 2 knives, latex gloves and ski mask away from him, he is "clean now." Turns out the patient was driving the get away car from a robbery! (Oh course he makes a full recovery...)

interested in flight nursing
Hi there, I am a flight nurse in Ohio and am currently studying for the CFRN exam. The exam is very tough and a group of us are studying together. As for the "Flight Nursing" class at Case in Cleveland. The class is part of the Critical Care Nursing Masters that they offer, it is not a Masters in Flight Nursing. We (co-workers) have looked into this class and that is what we have found out. Thanks!
