I find this happens allot! Dr. Worry about prescribing too many opiates and forget that most people take their medication as prescribed and for the intended purpose! This really makes me mad when I have a patient that genuinely has pain and needs these medications and doesn't get it. Or doesn't get enough or is considered "drug seeking". This is another thing. Any person who has an ailment is technically "drug seerking" someone has neuro pain seeks gabapentin, someone has diabetes 1 seeks insulin. A person who has severe pain, seeks an opiate = drug seeker. Yeah, they are seeking to relieve their pain, doesn't mean they are a drug addict. Tolerance, dependency and addiction are separate things. Or someone sent home with an opiate order, didn't ask, doesn't want it and gets a high dose 30 day supply. Someone who has serious pain, asks for an opiate is denied and treated like a drug addict. Reminds me of the "over prescribing antibiotics" and discouraging the use of antiseptics because this can lead to drug resistant antibiotics. What happened? Dr went loopy, decreased antibiotics and a spike of sepsis ER visits. People stopped using antiseptics and more infections. Where as yes there is a drug addiction crisis and yes the overuse of antibiotics and antiseptics can cause problems. Doesnt mean we go to the extreme and cause more problems. There have been cases where people who have been prescribed opiates for a time, took them as intended and didn't abuse them and then were almost cut off entirely. We have seen people resort to street opiates to relieve pain and yes withdrawal because they had no other choice only to end up dead from fentanyl. Off topic, I could go on and on and on!!

No of course I do not think mocking is appropriate. However it very abundant in politics and society in general. Yes I understand the difference between mocking and asking a question. My point was some disingenuous people may assign mocking because of a trait, or a question being asked because of a personal trait. Suggesting it's mocking but really is not. Skin color etc.

I guess it can be inferred that they are mocking her because of her skin color.if someone assumes they are because they think that's what conservatives do. However that is a belief but I do not see anything in that video that suggests they were mocking her because she was a woman of color. I would say if any mocking was going on, it's because of her not so subtle attenp to cater to some people by stating her pro nouns. Or her attempt to be inclusive. I guess it depends on the individual' precieved notion in how they interpret it. Yes. No Trump in that video. I'm not sure how he was thrown in. They are locked up in a cupboard(medications). They or family are to speak with Dr about prescriptions etc. Yes I will. And risk getting talked. This person is in pain, I'm willing to do it.

I can contact Dr for the residents that are LTC but this resident class is considered independent only requiring some care.

The medications are "passed" not administered by CNA mostly. It's for residents who are independent but need help managing their medications. They usually have a history of taking too much or missing doses. They are also assisted with meals and some ADL but do not meet full care requirements. It's an in between stage. The idea is, the resident and families take care of Dr appointment etc and stay as independent as possible. Their health is stable(or is supposed to be) and ongoing assessments are not administered. Almost like home care. Trasation: it's a small part pre long term care that family doesn't want to pay extra for care not needed yet. It's the idea to keep seniors as independent as possible and those who can manage this should, to preserve resources. We do not have the resources to administer medications, do assessments and converse with Dr.'s like we would in LTC and especially because the majority of the residents are LTC.

That is terrible! It seems your grandchildren have parents that will stand up against this abhorrent behavior. The last thing we want to teach our children is nothing is there fault and they are entitled to others belongings because of their skin color. I agree that there isn't any evidence of CRT being taught k through 12 and I do not think that's what you were trying to communicate? Am I correct? CRT as a curriculum with a syllabus and a grade criteria with outlined assignments complete with exams are not being taught k to 12. Not in the way it is in law school, this is correct. However I can see the parallel between what your grandson experienced and CRT. The ideals can be taught without actually following CRT word for word. There may be in small numbers teachers focused on wanting to establish their political beliefs instead of focusing on teaching. This does not mean history should not be taught. However it should be taught truthful, factual and age appropriate. And even if some believe there is an historical accountability to be taken, it should never be taken by the child. No child needs to be told they are a victim and no child should be told they are accountable for past atrocities and never because of their skin color. I 100% agree. I would like to believe that the teachers in your grandson's school most likely thought that they were coming from a noble place, or perhaps afraid if they sided with the white child there could be back lash? Whether that is true or not I cannot say. It does seem to be a hysteria in regards to this topic. It sounds like your grandchildren have good supportive parents and grandparents. And koodos to your children standing up against this unfortunate event at your grandson's school! And thank you for sharing your story!

Right. I only question it because I would like to administer more than just 1 per day as her pain is not managed effectively. I mean what is 1 t3 a day going to do? I have the same issue with a Ativan order. However these 2 residents are classified as independent in my facility so they are to manage Dr prescriptions themselfs or family. So technically I'm not supposed to SBAR.(ridiculous I know, a whole other thread). Waiting for a Dr this way doesn't help me on my shift and the person is in pain at that moment.. it upsets me because I have the medication to relieve her pain but cannot administer it. I'm going to risk having to explain myself and SBAR the Dr anyway. Her pain is more important than following a rule that doesn't make sense.

My apologies. The article by the Washington Post was in reference to the idea that democrats do not wish to have restrictions on abortions and how the President's words were mistepresented as well as the VP. It then went on to quote other democrats in attempt to state what has been said on the topic. I believe the intent of the article was to address the possible misinformation, but objectively provide reference in to what may lead some to believe that the Democrat party wishes to have complete access to abortion without any restrictions. So they quoted a few. I'm not sure if WAPO could be considered "propaganda"? I believe this article if we must , is more left than right. However it was well rounded and demonstrated information pertaining to both sides in reference to the idea democrats want abortion without any restrictions. My impression is that the only right leaning aspect would be there were no direct quotes from any democrats specifying that they were not in favor of abortions without restrictions. Only quotes that had answers that were vague. The democrats quoted in the article did not say they were in favor for abortions without limits nor did they say they were in favor of any restrictions on abortions either. Mostly saying it's up to the woman and her physician. I thought it was a great article that was well rounded and factual. Although it would have been helpful for them to quote more democrats that did produce clear positions regarding abortion without limits. I imagine if there was, they would have. So this could be considered leaning right? I do not think this was the intent. I wasn't trying to own the libs or ascertain my position on the matter. I have read back a little and there seems to be a ongoing discussion regarding the democrats position on restricting abortion or not having any restrictions. This article by WAPO was relevant to prior discussions. I agree. A explanation by myself when I posted the article would have been helpful. And with all due respect, perhaps you should have asked for an explanation before you concluded that I was extrapolating or believing propaganda. However I posted it without explanation so I will take accountability for that.
