  1. I have resigned last night due to unbelievable crap quite similar. I'm an LPN night shift pt. time got too freindly w/my workers- and as a poster said just go in do your work..well they are right. I'm in such awe of how unfair it is to see people stay while the bad apples - very bad ones remain. My heart goes out to you. I am so sad that you can be too nice to people onlyto get screwed in the end. Oh well..it is a learning thing I have learned yet once more not to trust. this was my last try at Nursing in a long term type setting b/c of bull and Nursing in general. I should be thrilled and as I do not have to work in this highly dysfunctional setting a revolving door of nurses, cna's coming going Just a tad sore today but I will get over it and will take this learning experince with me in all areas of life. If my spelling is bad sorry but I was awake nealrly the entire night :/
  2. everyone I know LPN's to BSN's have been doing this, not putting air into cloudy first then going right back to your clear. Ty though. And getting back to my question, does anyone know if this contaminates the clear a bit putting the air in cloudy then going into your clear? I'm thinking it does touch the inner rubber stopper. I'm ocd'ing on this topic now--not good LOL. PS: I can only imagine the nuns or nun you had to deal with -sorry! I understand was abused by them in grade school many were way abck when lol..but some nurses I've met come pretty darn close to acting like those old nuns. Mimi
  3. And yes thinking is a good thing lol BUT I'm now scratching my head now thinking after all of this reading..and after all the insulin injections I have administered in my Nursing days to others, I've never injected air first into an NPH (or cloudy) then I just inject in clear. I've always done what all the others do as well and it is what I have learned, simply put Clear (Reg.) to Cloudy injecting the air into the clear first then go onto NPH (or cloudy)...with no air. I would think after seeing the posts and even peeking at the BD demonstration link, that by injection air into the NPH (or cloudy) insulin first then air into clear regular - although the cloudy is not being "mixed" the needle is still in the bottle and may have a tad bit of NPH on the needle to put back into clear. I think I AM thinking way too much now over a basic procedure.. but like input. Have a super weekend everyone, Mimi
  4. It took about 5 days to get my Red Cross application since the online application was not working so it was mailed to me, that took awhile and no one called me back so I had to "bug" and bug some more....just to offfer help. BUT I DO know how busy they are with everyone trying to sign up...they have to be bogged down, so keep trying if you are wanting to help ..they still need a lot help down there! Well.. I went to the Southeastern Philadelphia Red Cross Chapter for my one day 9 to 4 training and it was very basic..many people of all ages [several older folks like in their 70's!) all races and about 7 nurses like myself, it seemed a few nurses had disaster training [unlike me ] but it did not matter, the nurses may have to pitch in and do other things not just Nursing related tasks I heard--which is fine-this is what its all about! One or 2 did not care for that. I've been out of work and wanting to help out so I am happy to go, esp. now when things got a bit calmer. I put I'm available immmediately on my application-now I was told I can change it for later since well into Dec many are needed, i may still gow now when they call..at any given day to head to Baton Rouge or outside the Houston area *unless* someone can tell me what it is like down there now coming into early Oct. (maybe cooler?) I am concerned about the heat I'm having many frequent hot flashes which drive me nuts and being in excesssive heat I'm rather concerned [i have mild asthma too nothing bad] but I want to do my best! I heard from the RCross ladies we will most likely have AC (and nurses get better treatment she said lol ) I dont acre about that lol its the doggone heat We will sleep on cots near others etc. lights out at 10pm and we are to bring our own sheets, extra water [in cases] too they want us to put in 3 weeks with 2 weeks being the least amount- I'm opting for 2 weeks. Bottom line, has anyone volunteered with the RC or other type palce RECENTLY and how did you find it as far as heat goes? ty soo much for any replies I want to help and realize these people have it very hard but I need to be able to function to help - hope I don't sound selfish here but these flashes are murder :angryfire LOL My best, Mimi :)
  5. I am faxing over my volunteer info today to (RED CROSS) nothing was online as I had been told! grrr so it was mailed to me took a few days (not good-it shold be more accessible if they needed help fast?!) Maybe they can use me a week I'm sure they can use help /support anything- (LPN here) went for 2 1/2 yrs years for BSN..may go back one day TY M.
