  1. Maybe ask your union if you need to? Get something in writing that you asked! I don't trust HR, the head of the AMA is a cool Guy and is on LinkedIn last I knew! When you renew your license there are check offs at least in NY. I don't remember seeing anything like that! You forgot you had it, you were very fatigued and you brought it back! I know some nurses that wouldn't bring it back!!
  2. I don't think she should worry about it? First "3rd night shift" and not used to it? I did a double shift and the next day the manager confronts me leaving Apple sauce in the cart insisting " there's Ativan in that". Might have been I was exhausted and needed to drive 49 miles to get home after that then show up the next day for a double back? Write a point of contact it's not stealing if you bring it back? You just forgot and exhausted!! That was my first med error of my career! My main bully was the one that brought attention to it,! I later got him removed from the unit!!
  3. Thanks for Validating Colton. "Disgraceful" the 2nd low satisfactory annual review I gave them a spiral bound book correcting it. Discovered later the 2nd level Manager disposed of it! All that time I put correcting their errors, substantiating my claims....ugh! at the very least she should have included the corrections with my personal file!! She might not have known that? or? they wanted me out... I was making just as much if not more then her and a significant amount more then my Nurse Manager. I never flaunted that.... Yep they like to push out the old in Canandaigua VA corrupt through out that pathetic/ mockery policy place!! it's true! And I can prove it!
  4. Oh do I so get that! I listen to our NP bash Nursing at most every treatment team meeting! Gets better! When the NP was being investigated for Bullying her MD had to cover! Oh boy did she resent that! I do declare the.most dirty look I ever got!! ? maybe because I was the RN that had enough of it and submitted a code of conduct on the NP. Better still! the NP came back saying "that's just the way I am". I soon got an adverse action for removal. Fought it and cleared completely!! But they didn't stop!! Both still there! And she still bashes and retaliates! Not kidding I caught the NP retaliating using the patient record! Really. !! Just that VA? Sincerely hope so!!
  5. That is a great post! I know I have a host of mirror Neurons one item though? You are basing this dx due to a family member telling you? I keep thinking likely the opposit! A contientous New Nurse that wants to deliver good care and very vulnerable. Just my thoughts! Maybe go back to that "family member" and ask for what they based that dx. On?
  6. My first thought is by asking in a forum if you are a decent Nurse due to being a "Sociopath". I doubt a Sociopatth would care! :-). You said a " family member told you that". Does the family member have Psych backgroud? Sure the family member wasnt trying to discredit due to something else! Gosh it sounds more like gas lighting! I've been there. ". I would suggest talking to a professional like maybe a good mental health councilor to help find the cause of asking why. I was told by some " Scott youre paranoid". Well? Its not Paranoia if it was a realality. Same type of gas lighting tactic! Just my thoughts! Level 111 Nurae step 8. Speciaty Psychiafry. My first question is how was that diagnosis determined? Since you are asking the question it sounds like you care about being "decent". I My last Manager was noted fo "r holding things over her staff". She had fits of rage hollering, caring on even flipped over a couch in front of the patients!! My last day there I contacted the police on her. (the police advised me to contact them " if she starts rearing up". She is still there! My guess is she has things over upper staff as well! Now there is a mental disorder. Actually I would say likely several!!
  7. Interesting I started with a level 11 with a BSN. Around 6 yrs experiance. The VA I was was different. For my level 111 I listed all my accomplishements. This included all my graduate papers related to that facility! Gets better! The day before the board hearing I discovered my name wasn't listed! So I went to HR and spoke with the HR employee who took my degree out of the sealed envelope from the university! Oh was she ticked! My degree copy disapeared ! So I took a photo and sent it to the facilities DN. Well I got level 3. Retired level 3 step 8. I never flaunted it but with retention pay, shift diff, holiday pay I was making more than my manager, probably more than her boss! Certain why they worked so hard to push me out besides whistle blowing numerous times! Don't go to eeoc! Hope my experience whelps! "Management do not have to follow policies". At some VA places they are a mockery!
  8. If your preceptor gets on your case while orienting you went to an additional educational resource, flip it and give the preceptor a learning moment! Find some friends to help watch your back! And really take a look at that work culture! Just an opinion
  9. Can think of two methods to solve the question. Best? Email the Nurse educator dept and save their response , practice accordingly, if the unit is doing any other method? Well you got it in your pocket. ?
  10. Sorry for the misunderstanding, And thanks for your comment! My point was the preceptor causing anxiety of the Orient. My Specialty is Psychiatry and I agree with the Narc concern! In my close to 30 yrs of practice I don't think I've ever drawn a Narc any where but the Med room and then a witness waste! To clarify if the Orient is getting anxiety from their Preceptor? That concerns me, been there. quote from last Preceptor; "Shari told me not to help you". Shari was the Manager! That's a flag!! Bully manager abusing her power? Casting anxiety on an Orient is a likely opportunity for a Med error down the road or then! Just my thoughts

  12. This sounds like more than a waste issue! Nurses eat their young and old, if anything this preceptor is not helping you getting off with the right foot! From what I've seen? Best advise is to get out of there! True story my last location I had a preceptor that told me "Sxxxx" ( nurse manager) "told me not to help you". Well I was Mon that unit for two days and one hour, In her office she bashed my work history, bashed my education, impossible to communicate with, tried every style I knew! Open ended direct, developmental. I was warned this manager " holds things over her staff". Yup she did/does! She is still there and her and her boss are best friends! I submitted a code ofconduct, disruptive behavioral report. Her boss investigated and called it "hearsay" but she never spoke to my witness or debrief ED me! Don't let that happen to you! Maybe ask for a different preceptor? But that could back fire, No one should have to come to work with fear! That not only affects you, but the patients also. I get the vibe you are in a toxic workplace!
  13. So sorry that happened! My first thought was. It you ? or them? Nursing is right up there with known lateral violence. I had a preceptor tell me "S xXxX (nurse manager) told me not to help you" really I'm not kidding!!
  14. What I did? I found two tutors that were the brightest in my class to help me! Sure made a difference and later informed the teacher. Some schools have paid tutors just for that! Actually when I was taking engineering I was a tutor for a semester. Paid a minimum wage tax free money as I recall. Graduated Nursing in 94, engineering 1980. Hope it helps!
  15. Black pear I had three disciplinary adverse action in one year, each one I cleared myself defending myself, the day the network director cleared me of the last one they had another pending! Would have cleared that also...(the police advised me to contact the police on the last manager and I had two ADA requests they ignored! Hang in there, such stupid things they put when the accountability act was turned upside down! Here's one; the manager missed that "weekly pain assessment notes are weekly assessments not day of entry". One of the adverse actions 250 pages with 8 hours of protected time and 7 days to come up with a defense? I gave it back to HR for a retro. They forgot some things...Douglas factors, illegible pages and. They forgot two pages of the whistle blowing directions! (needed those ;-). You got this! HR where I was? Well. Cleared an adverse action for removal completly, not one apologie, they just tried again! Toxic or what?
  16. Another thing that might help? Write up an IDP with your goals, project when you hope to achieve very important! Make sure your nurse manager signs it! Then annual review time show what's achieved and progress! I came from a very aligned good old gal tribe.! And made a mistake of whistle blowing. In the VA whistleblowing? Certain retaliation where I was. Looking back? We Nurses take an oath! Breach of care patient abuse, over medicated yup. Would not change one thing! I know I did the right thing!
  17. What I did with each of the categories was with Description, evidence then; "Scott is doing an outstanding job with this" The Manager I had at that point and time simply cut and pasted my pre-assessment.
