I just got accepted!! Don’t get discouraged if you got rejected, this was my 3rd time applying! first cohort I had 3.69 and 88.7, No med experience second cohort I had 3.69 and 88.7 with CNA and this cohort I retook a lab class and raised my GPA slightly to 3.71 and retook the TEAS and got a 95.3. Just know that you gotta keep improving something and trying harder :) See you guys at orientation!

You can check the status of your application by going to the portal and heading to where you choose which cohort to apply to. If it doesn't say anything, results aren't out yet; otherwise it'll say "denied" or "alternate" if you don't recieve an acceptance email. Also, how quick it is just depends on the staff. It can take up to 2 weeks to get results which is probably going to be the case since they took 2 weeks to give interview dates and 3 weeks to do interviews. I applied to Cohort 69 and it took only 1 week to give interview dates, and 2 to finish interviews. It's very irregular.

Yes, each time I have done the interview I've had a different person, they've all asked me if I had questions for them

It really depends on your answers. The first time I had my interview I took only 10 minutes as well but got a 16/20 which is really good considering I had no med experience at the time and thought I did horrible. They don’t give the score out specifically but the way they gave my score breakdown when I asked, I was able to calculate the total of my interview. This time, I took all 15 minutes but I’m pretty sure it’s only cuz my interviewer asked me more than 5 and I asked her questions at the end.

TEAS is your score divided by 100 and then multiplied by 40. GPA is exact, so since mine is 3.69, I would count it as 36.9. Those two each make up 40% of the overall score. The interview makes up the last 20% and they never really reveal how that one is calculated.

What were the last 3 cut-offs? Did you have any medical experience? Also I got my interview date!, it’s 3 whole weeks from now :,) I wish it was a little sooner, the wait is killing me.

I haven't heard of anyone getting in with less than a 3.0, last time I applied I had a 3.67 and 88.7 and I asked them for the score breakdown and they don't release the interview stats but my GPA and TEAS were right at the average almost exactly down to the decimal so it's hard to think that even one person got accepted with a 3.0 bc you would be able to tell. I thought I did really good on my interview, but didn't even get an alternate so there's really no telling. Especially because they say healthcare experience doesn't matter. Also, did your friend really have all A+'s? Props to them, I don't know howwww ppl do that haha. I got mostly A-'s which is why my GPA is almost right at 3.7 :,)

Has anyone gotten their email for the interviews yet? Kinda weird we're getting them this late.

Hi Everyone, I am applying to this cohort with minimal experience, I did my CNA course and clinicals October 2021 and took the test but am still waiting to recieve my license so I haven't been able to start working. GPA: 3.69 TEAS: 95.3 I didn't get accepted into cohort 69 where my GPA and TEAS was 3.67 and 88.7, I retook one lab class but didn't have enough time to do the second one so I instead spent time working to raise my TEAS score. HI! What was your GPA and what classes do they weigh it off of? Do you HAVE to have Intro to Bio and Intro to Chem done before you send in your application? I have the Microbiology and both anatomy pre-reqs as well as ones like sociology so I was wondering if they would let me apply and then do into to chem and bio instead of the other classes since I finished them.

Hi! Is it true that they take the first TEAS attempt no matter what unless you failed? The first time I did the TEAS as a test run so I got a 74 and then I did it seriously the second and got an 88...so I'm hoping they will take my second one. I also hate how I messed up and got one B in my science GPA and one B in my gen-eds so I am down by 7 points on my application ?

Hello Everyone, I am currently trying to apply to many community colleges and research private universities where I can do a nursing program. I was trying to apply to the BSN program at National but it's extremely competitive so I am looking for back ups. The CC's here are pretty limited as well so I was looking out of state but it would be hard for me to move out there. I heard there are programs that you can do lectures for online and then they have you do clinicals in your community even if the campus itself is in a different state. Does anyone know of any nationally accreddited ones?

Oh wow thats great! Yeah, sometimes I get discouraged but I have to remember how far I am despite just being out of high school. Honestly my GPA flopped from the A&P 2 Lab and Microbiology Lab, I got B's since they were online and not really hands on which made it harder for me. I realized I might've been too hasty. I'm gonna apply to some city college nursing programs and while waiting on those, I'm retaking the labs and studying for the TEAS so I can apply for the May deadline. Also, I had the same questions, I actually felt like I did really good. I spoke about my CNA experience a lot, how I saw burnout and how important self management is. I also talked about how good NU is overall because it is a more intimate school with very helpful faculty. Diversity I felt I did a bit meh on because I just kinda said something a bit general like how it's not just having many ethnicities and cultures rather the importance of inclusion. Also spoke about how I would always think about being respected by the patients but it was also great to be respected by the CNA's and my peers. The questions you asked were great, I hadn't done that because I ran out of time. Also I don't really have questions about anything else, thank you so much for listening to me and responding. I'm just gonna raise my stats and apply to LA because NU's clinicals are reaaaallllyyyy recognized and I wanna be extra safe ? Thanks so much again, hoping the best for both of us !

@Alexus DEliseo Actually I find it weird that you have a 3.8 and 88% and was only an alternate. NU says experience doesn't matter but I had a 3.7 and 88% and another person with a 3.7 and 86% and experience in the medical field got accepted.

Hi! Thank you so much for the quick response, unfortunately I was denied ? That means having CNA experience 3.7 GPA and 88% TEAS put me below 45th place wow this is insanely competitive. Honestly if I retake the TEAS and can't get above a 95% I'll probably just apply to LA because some of the ones accepted had stats around or just below mine and this is my last application chance. :')

@AA94 Hi! What were your stats? This was my second time applying so I'm honestly considering the LA campus now because their average scores are a bit lower. What do you think? I had a 3.7 Math and Science GPA and an 88% on my TEAS. I applied to Cohort 68 with no experience and felt like I bombed my interview. I asked for my score breakdown and after doing the math, I basically got a 16. They told me my cumulative score was 87.95 and the cutoff was 91.68. So before applying to the next cohort, I did a CNA class both to help my NU chances and SWC because it's my backup. I felt like I did really good this time around too because I was wayyy more in depth with my answers and related it alot to what I saw in clinicals, I ended up speaking the full 15 minutes. I'm kinda scared to apply to San Diego again because I still wanna live with my parents and not have to worry about working to barely make rent as I am a college student. I'm a little more scared now because the next one is my last chance and I'm wondering if I should play it safe. I might apply for the May deadline so I have time to retake my A&P as well as TEAS. Also, I saw on another NU forum that apparently 4 of the interview points are made up by healthcare experience? It would make sense especially since the person I mentioned w similar stats had like 10+ years versus someone like me straight out of high school. That's also why I'm so desperate. I don't have the luxury to work a well paying job to pay rent while going to school. It makes it even harder since I am limited to California and it's super competitive here sigh sorry for the long post, any advice?

Hello, Did anyone here get accepted with basically no medical experience? I just got denied from Cohort 69, someone had the same GPA as me and a TEAS score 2-3% lower but got accepted and I'm thinking it has to do with their experience in healthcare because I only did a CNA course.

@cg214 Hi! So sorry to bother you, do you mind telling me what your overall score or interview score was? I think they give you the breakdown if asked. I’m just confused because I got a 3.7 GPA as well and an 88% TEAS. Last cohort I did super bad on the interview, sped through it and was vague and got a 16 but this time I did a CNA course and talked about it a lot and was in depth with my answers so I’m positive I got a higher score but I’m starting to wonder if healthcare experience really does affect your chances despite them saying it doesn’t ?

Hi everyone, :/ Getting kinda discouraged because I really like the NU program and my options are limited since I just graduated high school in 2020. I got a 3.7 Science GPA and 88% on the TEAS and didn’t make it into Cohort 68 OR 69 :( After 68, I retook the TEAS and did a CNA program, clinicals and all. I got the same score on the TEAS but I thought experience would help since the interviewer told me last time most applicants don’t have much but I guess it didn’t help boost my chances. Im trying to apply to community colleges too but my options are really limited since they all start only once a year and I can’t really be sitting around every year waiting for acceptance you know? I’m thinking of trying to go out of state for now since everything is still giving the option to do online because of covid
