  1. All I can say is you are NOT alone. I am a new RN grad, was previously an LPN in an assisted living home and am in my 2nd week of orientation on a transitional unit and I am miserable, constantly upset and anxious, and wondering if things will ever get better. I hope it does for both of us.
  2. I often have these same feelings. So sorry.
  3. I graduate in May with my ASN and I'm having the same problem, including the anxiety LOL. I'm a LTC LPN and just want to get out of LTC. I've done it 8 years and just need out so I know that for sure.
  4. Exactly, we listen to the RNs. The CNAs should have the same amount of respect and listen to LPNs as well. I also get tired of them having the idea that since an LPN isn't an RN they can treat them however type of way. I'm almost an RN (May'22) and cant wait to get out of the LTC environment and hope the hospital ones are better, sigh...
  5. I have absolutely noticed this and wondered when things change! Where I work there is Personal Care Aides, often not certified, and Certified Medication Technicians who take a 20 hr course on how to pass medication under delegation of a case managing RN. They are constantly stepping on toes, and yet make tons of mistakes and then management looks towards the LPNs as to why this isn't being supervised or something? When we are given limited authority as compared to before and these unlicensed staff are out of control with their egos. I was also a CNA/CMT for 5 years so I know the job. It's such a struggle, I'm also tired of it.

Thank you! I am hoping to do so. Thank you. I will look into this book. Being there firsthand for peoples trauma whether big or small definitely takes its toll on us. Good luck with your RN journey!

Does anyone have any suggestions or encouraging stories about burnout and how they overcame it? I'm an LPN, also a RN student who just finished her 3rd semester of ADN, only have one more left, and I'm just like is this even what I want anymore? I've spent the last 8 years working at an assisted living facility and my passion is gone. I'm not sure if its the place and maybe a change will help. I have taken TONS of time off to help with the burnout and it hasn't helped.
