Not to mention I think they’re a bit behind in the process. I was suppose to received an acceptance package in the mail over a week ago and so far all I’ve gotten is the email portion.

You guy should be hearing something shortly. There are things that have to be done before starting the program and they have to leave you time to complete them

Follow up emails went out today. Anyone interest in starting a fb group or will the university do it?

NPs with no clinical experience? I hope I never see that day. This is the reason why I really wanted to go to a more reputable school for my BSN to DNP but I refuse to pay 6 figures for another degree. Some of these tuition cost are OUTLANDISH.

@MentalKlarity I think these school should become more selective. The lack of preceptors shouldn’t be the only thing stopping these schools from throwing out degrees.

If I recall correctly you applied to the second deadline. I don’t think decisions are out for those that applied after the early deadline. With that being said I’m honestly not familiar with their admissions stats. The MSN to DNP would be a little less competitive I would think?

If I had been the nurse in this situation I would have held the 12:00 dose. It was well over two hours late. Insulin is very time sensitive. When in doubt you could have asked for a second opinion from another nurse or called the MD. With that being said I wouldn’t consider this a med error but I would do an event if you feel like patient harm was done. It’s good that you’re concerned as I’m sure you’ll learn a lot from this but please don’t be too hard on yourself. No nurse is perfect. Being a new nurse is hard. It sounds like you’ll make a great nurse.

I honestly wouldn’t count you out. A lot of people are just submitting I’m sure. Wouldn’t be a second deadline if it wasn’t necessary. I personally felt like my application was on the weaker side. That’s why I didn’t want to risk it. I only had a 3.5 GPA and a few years of experience. My essay is likely what saved my butt. I have VERY unique purpose.

I submitted by the early deadline so I’m assuming we were notified around the same time. As for those that submitted after that deadline I’m not sure if done on a rolling basis or if you’ll have to wait for the last dead line. I inquired about this before I submitted my application and I was given a very vague answer so I went ahead and made sure to make the early deadline. They pretty much just told me to submit ASAP to increase the likely hood of me getting in. I didn’t feel like my application stats were strong enough to hold out.

Now that I’m not sure but I think after the first deadline admissions are rolling?

I’m not sure how it is where you guys are located but here in NC FNP are limited to outpatient area (doctor office/clinic). ACGNP usually do hospital setting

That was my thought too. I’ll get a dual degree and hope fit the best. At least I can work inpatient and outpatient. I feel like I have more options. Who knows what the market will look like in four years anyways

USA was the only one I found. It’s the only school I applied for. Too many horrror stories about FNP not being able to find work due to the over saturated job market. The dual degree give you MANY more opportunities and a clear advantage.

I’m not sure I’m willing to take that type of blind shot. I’m hoping to look at the CAP affiliation list once we get our packet so I can at least be somewhat prepared Some school actually do clinical placement. I just happen to like the fact that USA offers a dual program BSN to DNP. It’s the only one I found

I was told I’m pretty much on my own for clinicals and that came from a friend who barely scraped by. She actually stopped after her MSN because she realized there was no way she could complete the DNP clinicals. She told me that a lot of them had that issues through out the program. She even advised me against going. And she completed it before the pandemic

I’m freaking out for whole other reason now LOL. I live in NC and apparently clinicals here are hard to come by

Yeah I got that email too. It’s automated. It means nothing. Just keep waiting on the follow up email and packet

I called yesterday and she told me by Wednesday we would receive follow up info

I also submitted mine the day it was due. I actually freaked out because I didn’t think it would be verified by nursingcas in time. Luckily it was.

I applied by July 15th (early deadline). I seriously doubt they are finished sending out emails. Hang in there!

@Skyler Dungan which track specifically did you apply for? The email implies that all email haven’t been sent out yet so I’m sure they’re still processing
