Wilkes PMHNP Fall 2021 Cohort
They don’t ensure clinical placement, they look around for you but there’s no guarantee they’ll find one so many people have to find their own. I’m in my third term so I haven’t had that many classes but so far majority are self-taught I’ve had no lectures unfortunately. Some professors are easier than others to contact via email, but most respond eventually. Discussion boards are part of every class usually once a week post with a second post response to classmate. Quizzes and exams are common especially in classes like pharmacology. Whereas papers or presentations are more common in classes like nursing theory. All exams are proctored online and cost $15 each time.

OK looks like the method I suggested isn’t allowed that’s OK. I agree we can check back and see if other fall 2021 students post in here & then decide what to do. Congratulations to you too!

Thank you! Yes. I think in person visits could be really good for learning. I am more so just saying if the overall cost is more than the other two schools I hope it's worth it in terms of the eventual connections for clinical placements. Good luck on waiting to hear back on those schools ?

I was also accepted. Are you still planning for Fall 2021? I am still weighing my options, my main concern is about whether they assist with clinical placements.

Thank you! Can I ask, do you feel confident about their preceptor placement support?

I was also accepted into the Fall 2021 program. Haven't accepted it yet, still trying to make my decision between other schools. I am leaning towards Wilkes because of the support for clinical placement. However, I am concerned about the on campus requirements cost plus other fees. I was told the program should about 35k with fees.

Deciding between online PMHNP schools
Would really appreciate some current thoughts on how to decide on an online NP school, especially PMHNP (MSN). I have been accepted for Fall 2021 to Wilkes and am waiting to hear back from Northern Kentucky U and Eastern Kentucky U. They are all CCNE, have pass rates from 90%-ish (EKU is 98% I think). However, Wilkes requires 2 in person sessions which would be an extra cost and is 35k total while NKU is 27k and EKU is 30k. Wilkes says that they really work with you finding your clinical placements, no matter where you live, while the other two have less support. Have people enjoyed and gained good experience from in person sessions during online programs? Is paying 5-8k more worth it for a potentially more support to find clinicals? What do you look for in an online NP Program? Anyone currently or recently finished at these schools? Thanks in advance.
