  1. With days like those, it is always an affirmation that you did the right thing. Congrats on moving forward and here's to your better future! Cheers OP.
  2. Haha! I love that saying. Thank you @Jen1234. It is a big transition as I don't live out there and would be moving for it, so I think I have more questions than most people would. In my current state, our VA has a sheet that had the residency details including the exact stipend amount so I panicked when I didn't see that come through at all yet. California also has the exact stipend details posted. Seems like a state by state basis that they provide details on this, but I wish they all did that so that it would be easier to plan financially. I didn't intend on staying in my state after graduating so I applied for only out of state VA opportunities.
  3. Thanks for the in @Jen1234! I also wondered at the end if everyone typically gets placed somewhere? I know it isn't a staff position at the VA so I think my next worry is if there isn't placement at the end. Also, do you feel if you ever did need to leave for whatever reason that you can find a job easily again in the private sector directly after the resideny program? Since it isn't a training on a unit and being on your own like other hospital residencies, does it give you enough for outside hospitals to still consider you for their positions after completion of this program? So many quesitons! I appreciate any insight as I feel a little blind going in.
  4. Hi. I know this is an old thread but I recently got a tenative offer and I am wondering how you found the program vs a traditional hospital residency program. Also, was your stipend disclosed to you early on so that you can find housing, etc.? Do you still recommend this route to the VA after completing the program?
  5. Hi. I also got into the VA in Dallas. Is that where you will be? I am wondering about pay since that will be the biggest determination on whether I really do take this offer or not. They have not told me anything about the stipend amount and it worries me if there is something to hide in regards to pay. Are you in the residency program?
