Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022
Hi all!! ? I was recently accepted to Queens, Nippising SPP, and Humber! I'm really leaning toward SPP because it is in DT Toronto, has 1-1 preceptorships and has great affiliations with UHN and SickKids. Is anyone else planning on going to Nippising? I read a lot that schools need a deposit. I haven't heard of that for Nippising it also wasn't in my offer letter. Does anyone know if we need to pay a deposit and if so what the deadline is? Thanks!

Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022
Hey! I actually commuted for a bit both by public transit and then by driving. If you drive it is doable, especially if you take the highway on off-hours. (I.e leave early to get to class and stay at a library later on). I think using public transit would be very difficult unless you are really good at studying on the bus (I have tried and it is difficult to read, especially with all the bumps and distractions - even with noise-cancelling headphones). Hope this helps a little!

Hey! I am still just on waitlist, haven't gotten a pending. I have seen that some people that had their status changed to pending have gotten an offer! So I hope that's the case for you ? Do you mind sharing the GPA you applied with?

Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021
Hey, I emailed U of T in Jan asking how to send my Athabasca transcript, as Athabasca only emails transcripts and doesn't send out hard copies. They replied saying to upload it to joinID. I emailed myself the official transcript and uploaded it to joinID for both interim and final grades. I did this by logging into My AU, scrolling down the the orange heading of Student Record, and selecting the category of manage student record - request transcript, adding my name and email as the person who would receive it. I have no gotten any feedback on my application yet, just says "Application Received." I hope this helps.

Congrats! That's awesome! Have you accepted it / planning on going? When I applied my GPA was lower but my prereqs have increased it substantially, so I'm hoping that will help with my waitlist spot. What was your GPA (the queens calculation)? I think I have a shot because of my ECs and my statement but I'm worried I might have to reapply for next cycle.

Nipissing SPP 2021 Applicants
Hey - sorry that you got waitlisted for the program ? It's a long waiting game but a lot of people chance their minds so I'm sure you still have a shot! I am planning on applying to the SPP program for next year, I was wondering if you could share you application stats? I will be applying with a 3.7 but I'm not sure if its enough!

Hey, did anyone watch the Humber-UNB 2nd entry information session? They stated that their program has been waitlisted - my application still says pending decision. Just wondering if anyone knows if it means I am waitlisted or not? I'll email admissions but wanted to check here first!

I am also wondering this - my application for humber says pending still. I also looked online at their website and it says that applications are "waitlist." I am thinking I am either going to be rejected or waitlisted at this point.

It's more of a balancing act, yes you need the 2 years of full time clinical experience post RN to become an NP but you also need excellent marks. The way things are trending now, with increased RN demand I can see that there will probably be more NP demand in the future making those applications more difficult to gain acceptance (this is not factual, just based off my personal experience and based off of advice from practitioners I know). My insight is that you know you best! If you did well in your whole undergrad with full course loads and know you'll be able to do well in a more difficult program with less breaks (depending on the type of accelerated program), then accelerated is the way to go. If you have clearly gained the habits and demonstrated the performance needed to not only stay afloat through the accelerated program but can excel - it would be the right option for you ? If you think you are someone who needs more time to understand concepts, wants more time to consolidate knowledge or wants to work part time and gain experience while in your BScN, maybe the 4 year is better for you? With that being said, you were admitted to a 2 year program - to admissions you are more than capable to doing well in their program! It all depends on what your timeline is, what your finances look like, and the experience you want to have! The nurses I work with come from all different backgrounds, but the advice they give me is to set myself up for success - by this time you know the environment in which you will succeed best! Hope this helped a bit.

I got some advice on this from my co-workers who are nurses. What it chalked down to is a few things. What are your habits? Are you someone who needs more time to get accustomed to a program to start doing well? Are you someone who wants to do a MN or become an NP? If so your grades matter a lot more and having some buffer years with doing a 4 year degree might be the best option. Also, for a lot of us here having the prerequisites to apply to a 2nd entry program gives us a ton of transfer credits! Making it really practical to work part-time. Also, after each year of nursing new job opportunities come along with more $$ for example being able to work as a clinical extern or PSW part time. However, if you are someone with an excellent GPA, outstanding ECs and have formed a great work ethic and know you will do well in a compressed program then why waste your time doing 4 years. All of that is to say, if nursing is what you want to do - what is the big difference between 4 years and 2 years ? You'll still be a nurse! I am someone who decided I wanted to be a nurse 2 years after completing my HBSc and currently dealing with this idea of being "behind in life," I have to keep remembering that this is my goal and stop comparing myself to others! (which is hard!). Good luck! I am sure you'll make the right decision ?

100% So blindsided. I wish I knew I would have taken an alternate route to entrance into nursing, because not getting in this year is almost equivalent to doing a 4 year degree again! (For the longer accelerated programs).

Yes! I have been upgrading with prereqs slowly but surely because I work full time. Thanks for your kind words, you're going to make an awesome Nurse! ?❤️ I'll just keep trying at it until something sticks.

Yes! I feel lied to! LOL, I am so confused about how these arbitrary cut offs are made and listed on the program website to get in and how that is not reflective at all on the grades you need to actually gain acceptance into the program. As am someone with a plethora of experience and mediocre grades and am finding this process so challenging and discouraging. I don't want to give up - but it is really hard to keep having hope after getting rejected. Can I ask what your GPA was for Trent? I didn't apply there but should spread out my applications to be more diverse for next year.

Does this mean that if I am doing pre-reqs as a non-degree student at U of T they will count toward my last 10 FCE GPA calculation? (for example, if I am applying next application round)
