  1. Although the 1:1 ratio does sound very nice you have to defiantly be okay with the self taught style of teaching. It's a very unique program and you do get lots of placement opportunities but the aspect of content being taught and preparing for the NCLEX through taking various courses isn’t there. Either way the education of any of the schools will prep you fine for the NCLEX as most schools have relatively high pass rates it’s more so how do you learn yourself and are you okay not learning through lectures. That will truly help you determine between Nipissing vs any other school honestly
  2. Hey if you go on their website they show pre req requirements as well as a list of possible courses to fulfill the requirements so you can check if yours are okay. I had one half physio and one half anatomy and I was accepted. Hope this helps :)
  3. It shouldn't have any influence on Mac and their review process. I know when I accepted UofT, I still got my other 2 acceptances a few weeks after they got informed, and I know they were informed because Nipissing changed my status to accepted elsewhere but I still got in when they sent theirs out
  4. Hey, I'm not 100% sure but I think the way it works is that you can hear back if your waitlisted or declined up until the end of June. I don't think everyone finds out right away (I don't even know if anyone finds out at the beginning honestly), and that you can get waitlisted up until like June 30th. In terms of offers though, they come out every Friday typically so I guess we will see next week if they send more out on the Friday or is tomorrow is the last day.
  5. Hey everyone, I will be declining my Nipissing spot as I have decided to go with UofT best of luck to you all and another spot should be opening up ?
  6. Hey if anyone is looking to book CPR courses, I know some of the websites are very confusing with their booking systems. For people in the GTA this is a simple site to book on if anyone is interested. They have opened a bunch more courses for July and the one thats required I believe is the standard first aid and BLS (correct me if I'm wrong please). https://www.torontocpr.com
  7. They have two options, pay via credit card or pay via online banking, and as long as you chose the option where you input your credit card details, you should be fine and it should show a $500 credit! It was the option on the right if that helps
  8. Thats so weird, I would maybe try next week see if anything changes but if not you could always email admissions!
  9. Its June 1st so don't stress about that, you still have time! I spoke to admissions and they say after your deadline on ACORN they manually change it to June 1st but cannot do it until the deadline passes If you go on ACORN under finances I am pretty sure I clicked make payment and on the right hand side it says pay tuition and fees by credit card (make sure you choose this, tuition deposits are not able to be paid by online banking) from there it will allow you to input everything, hope this helps!
  10. If youre talking about in the admissions letter, mine says previous degree and then my current university
  11. Hey! Mine looks at top 20 since my school offers half credits not full. For my top 20 it was around 3.93/4
  12. *Insert sipping tea meme*
  13. I think thats a big thing. Comparing myself now to how I was back in the start of my undergrad im a completely different person when it comes to time management and my learning style and how I study. I heard that too but I decided that I wouldnt let the tough rep of UofT be what drives me away.
  14. If it makes you feel any better, I have actually heard that the averages in the UofT program have been pretty high within the low to mid As which I was personally surprised to hear. There is someone on Youtube called thatnursingstudent who is attending UofTs program now and talks a bit about averages of courses and the program in general. I was pretty set on Nipissing as I didn't think I would even get into UofT but hearing back from both defiantly made it a much harder decision LOL. Regardless of what you choose the end result is the same as you will finish and become an RN with either program and both have high NCLEX pass rates. Either school has you in good hands I think it just depends on your preferred learning style. Another thing to note is Nipissing doesn't have any simulation labs compared to UofT having labs throughout the program. Im not sure if that affects your decision at all either, I found that when I thought about having no labs and being thrown into a clinical setting it made me a bit anxious but im not actually sure of Nipissings approach and how they prepared you for clinical.
  15. So this may be a bit of a ramble but ill say my thoughts and maybe this will help you too! For me I was deciding between UofT and Nipissing as well. I think I'm leaning towards UofT as im not sure how I feel about the self guided approach and teaching style of Nipissing and how I will feel come time to prep for the NCLEX. I have heard great things about both programs and its a tough choice. Nipissing you will get more time in clinical placements, as they give you 24 hours a week each semester, and the final semester you get a full 40 hours I believe for your consolidation stage (which should be the same at any university for consolidation). Nipissing does run all year and you get 3 weeks off between each semester. UofT is not full year and will end each year by the end of June giving you 2 months off. With UofT they also give you more areas to learn in clinical I feel as you have different rotations where as with Nipissing you can just be placed in sick kids and not have much adult care which depending on the person can be great! I like how UofT gives you a variety of placements, including mental health, geriatrics, peadiatrics, acute and maternity all through the first year so you really get a feel for the different areas of nursing. I also like how the courses are laid out with UofT as you're not forced to learn harder subjects (like pharm) on your own which is defiantly something I think is important. Overall both schools are really good and have relatively high NCLEX pass rates with about a 1-2% difference. I know the Nipissing program is much smaller and you do get a lot closer with classmates as I feel it would be harder to connect with all the students from UofT as the class size is between 3-4x larger I think. Both programs in terms of placements are very good though as they are affiliated with some great hospitals in the downtown region as well! Congrats to everyone by the way!
  16. Hey I got accepted on the 16th and heard back yesterday regarding scholarships so I believe they send out a notice a few weeks later if u get one or not
  17. Yea the date on ACORN says something different but follow the June 1st date
  18. Hey! In regards to Nipissing and fining out where you will be placed its hard to tell right now. I know this past year for the 2020 cohort they did not find out where they were being placed until late September. Unless this changes, this is one thing which will affect my decision I think but im not sure if they're still doing this. I think it has to do with no interviews being done.
  19. Hey everyone, I got a conditional offer to Nipissing today as well and wanted to let everyone know that accepting other offers did not have any affect on my future offers just because I know with Nipissing the status change confused some of us. I will most likely be declining both Nipissing and York as I have accepted UofT and I think thats what my final decision will be. Just a heads up though, if Nipissing does not give all offers out today I have until May 28th at accept so there may be some time before a second round (I'm not sure if they do that though)
  20. I know I got accepted 3 weeks ago and haven’t gotten anything in the mail. The conditional offer and letter that was posted online had a lot of detail and info so it’s making me think they won’t send it.
  21. Congrats to everyone getting in today! Just wanted to update everyone saying I got into york today after 6 ish weeks of being under consideration. I did not get an email, so make sure to check out your MyFile accounts.
  22. You are not able to submit assignments early, but you can start working on them. For me I am doing them now and then submitting them all on June 1st when the course allows for submissions. This gives enough days to mark it and have it ready for a transcript (at least for me). Quizzes you do not have to book as they are not proctored and you can write it any time after June 1st. Exams you need to book as you need to pay for a proctor through ProctorU I believe. This allows you to ensure there is someone available to proctor you which is why you have to book it at least 20 days in advance although I booked mine in from now so I wouldn’t fall behind. I personally will only be updating UofT as it’s the only school which requires this course and it’s in my conditional offer as well. You should try talking to York and see if it would be possible for you to receive a conditional offer if you take the course and if it’s possible that the offer will come sooner than later. This will allow you to determine if it’s worth it for you to try and finish the course in the short time frame.
  23. Hey I just enrolled in that course, and you have access to the assignments to start doing them and will know what the readings are that you should be doing. You have access of the course material but just are unable to submit any assignments, or write any exams/quizzes. If you do enrol I would recommend booking your exams so you know when and how to pace yourself throughout so you don't fall behind. Talk to the York admissions team and see what they say about their deadlines for the course grade. It's a big commitment and you will have to defiantly prioritize it, but having some prior background knowledge on A&P could help a lot.
  24. I get that they automatically update that through OUAC, but I don’t think it’s a fair statement to say you clearly don’t see other schools wanting to extend offers if someone has already accepted elsewhere. A lot of students are accepting offers because many of the offers expire after 2 weeks. Therefore to get past this issue all schools need to offer acceptances at the same time or all schools need to not regard if students have accepted offers elsewhere. I wouldn’t worry too much as I can’t see accepting an offer elsewhere impacting any other applications you have standing.
  25. As long as you have accepted you don't have to do anything today!
