Emory D-ABSN 2021
They will certainly contact you if you are a fit for the program and willing to relocate. There’s someone in my cohort currently in CA and is somehow making it work with clinicals. They ask you to sign a contract about where you agree to complete clinicals, though that is at your cost if you choose to stay in CA. Quite a few from my cohort also relocated to accommodate clinical placements. Hope this is helpful!

Adding on! If you are in a state that does not have or allow outside programs (like CA) and you choose to stay/apply to Emory, you will certainly be asked about your willingness to travel to another site (on your dime) and will sign a form outlining the agreement. For example, several cohort members are in Oregon and some have relocated to Seattle for the program to complete clinicals, while others have simply agreed to travel for the required clinicals. The only way Emory pays for the student to complete clinicals in Atlanta is if they are unable to place you in the agreed upon area. They are thorough in these discussions prior to admissions to ensure everyone is aware of their commitment. Our first and last clinical rotations are in Atlanta - those are included in the tuition. Hope this is helpful! Yep!

I think I requested the FB group, someone just needs to accept me! No, not prerequisites. For compliance, I mean immunizations, CPR cert, background checks, etc.

Emory D-ABSN 2021
Hello! The Summer 21 cohort is full I believe. We had orientation last week and were told the cohort was full. The only caveat is that could change if people don’t fulfill their compliance requirements, which would open up some spots. Compliance is due by May 1st, classes start May 17th. Hope this is helpful! I don’t know anything about the fall cohort.

Rush GEM Fall 2021
In my own soul searching, I've come to the conclusion that the masters only matters if you are planning on doing something with it. I don't have immediate plans to go into advanced practice. If or when I get there, perhaps my hospital or employer will be willing to kick in some money for me to get there. In the meantime, the name of the game is the least debt possible in the shortest amount of time, for me.

I received both the acceptance email and scholarship email this morning within the same hour. I’m on PST so I saw both when I woke up. Hope that’s helpful!

Hello! Congrats to everyone. I was accepted with a very nice scholarship, but will likely be releasing my spot.

Which program are you doing at Emory? I’m also likely releasing my spot! Just waiting to see what kind of financial aid I may get.

Did you attend the admitted students day? I reached out to my financial aid advisor, but just said I qualified for the standard unsubsidized/subsidized $12.5k per year. They mentioned there are very limited merit scholarships that are v competitive. I’m committed to the May cohort at the moment, but waiting on one other school. I don’t think anyone has started a FB group, but I didn’t see that many people for the May cohort at the admitted students day either. Also, congrats! Where are you joining from?

I so appreciate your honesty. I applied to Hopkins as sort of a consolation with the intent of only going if I had significant scholarship help and it certainly wasn't my first choice. I've heavily researched all the programs I've applied (all in different states) and sometimes this info just isn't out there. Maybe this isn't everyone's experience but it is extremely important to hear them out! Thank you again!

I didn't know they offered merit based scholarships. I know these are always limited, but nice to know they are out there! Some key takeaways for me: skills checkoffs, very supportive faculty and cohort, and a diverse student panel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I saw decisions by March 5th?

It's a mix of about 120+ students, but only 1 other person has identified as D-ABSN

any word? There's an admitted students day on January 30th with very few D-ABSN students. Curious how many there currently are in the cohort and if @asquared20 and @jcnurse2b have heard anything.

Fingers crossed for you and best of luck! Are you in Texas? Where are you hoping to do clinicals?

Emory D-ABSN 2021
Sure - Overall GPA is 3.65, Prereq GPA 3.77 (that B in chem really got me ?) No healthcare experience, my resume consists of all high end restaurant management and serving experience. Prior bachelor's degree in finance. Not sure what other stats I could share but feel free to ask ?

Are you applying for financial aid? I wasn't aware the May cohort had to also fill out a 20-21 FAFSA along with the 21-22. The degree conferral may be holding it up. I had numerous unofficial transcripts to send and a degree conferral from long ago bc I'm old haha. Fingers crossed and sending good stuff out into the universe!

That's the plan, though I am still waiting on the other schools I applied to (mostly OHSU). I won't hear until March, but I'm VERY impressed with the admissions process of Emory. Thanks! I applied December 10th. They reached out to me on Jan 7th and I received admissions Jan 14th. I was also not expecting to hear until March! I'm not sure what could strengthen your particular application, though a personal statement can't hurt. They told me my strong academic record was a big part of my admittance. Hope this is helpful!

Just received my admission to the D-ABSN program yesterday. Definitely a relief to have an admission in my pocket and have found some good reviews from those in the past couple cohorts.

Thanks - you too! Btw, I was noting Oregon's process for allowing out of state programs clinical access. I have no idea what other states have in place. He did mention that CA was the most difficult and Texas is also particularly difficult.

No, it was a phone call to see whether I was flexible in where I could travel for clinicals. They offered Seattle and I said I would be willing to consider the possibility. I also asked if they had relationships in place in a few other cities that would be convenient for me to travel. It's only 3x in the program and all my travel points are definitely not being used. He did say there *may* be a possibility in the future, but not to hinge my decision on that possibility. So, it was my decision to move forward or not based on my flexibility.
