  1. Not sure if you're still looking but, I just applied for an evening hybrid LPN program at a tech college. Perhaps the local tech colleges in your area offer similar programs...
  2. Today is the first day after the application deadline. Results should be sent out by Monday 7/10. The wait begins...
  3. Anyone in Tampa Bay, FL planning on applying for the PTC-BayCare LPN Program for the August 2023 cohort? Anyone already applied yet? Anyone receive any information or decision information about the BayCare Aug '23 cohort?
  4. It's the same for me now....it may've been better if I had a lecture component instead
  5. I've taken up to Calc in college and I'm now taking Stats as a prereq for Nursing School... IMO stats is more difficult...
  6. Hey. There's already a post for this
  7. All good points. Thanks for your perspective
  8. I'm only a pre-nursing student but I do work in a hospital. I've noticed that the hospital will have nursing internships posted, usually alongside the Nurse Residency programs for new grads. Perhaps your system has something similar?
  9. Yeah it's pretty great. From what I understand, it's a 2-yr contract you have to sign up front to work after graduation. And with BayCare, new grad nurses start as a Nurse Resident which is a yr-long program that automatically phases you into the entry-level nurse position (Clinical Nurse I). Actually I was able to copy down the professors you recommended before they censored it but thank you so much!
  10. @MaNixon it's definitely an option but, as you can tell, I'm still gathering info on everything and weighing them all...
  11. @MaNixon I'd have thought they would include those courses on the list of classes available next semester. Do you think they don't maybe?
  12. Thank you both for taking the time to give me your input! And fingers crossed on being one of the next!! Keep in mind that SPC has the EAYL program with BayCare so some of those spots that are showing already as enrolled may be from that...
  13. I know this might seem like a dumb question but is it possibly for you to get Financial Aid like the Pell Grant, etc?
  14. hey there! I'm sorta in the same boat here: I'm a couple months out from 34 with 2 kids and I'm taking my prereqs now. If everything goes to plan, I should be applying to nursing school in just over a year (I'm only taking part-time class loads b/c I need to work full-time). While doing my research, I also came across negativity and IMO you'd be crazy if those things didn't scare you some. But what has kept me going is the feeling I get when I think about getting into nsg school, that anxious trepidation of the workload school will thrust upon us, the relief of graduating and the elation of passing the NCLEX-RN. But most importantly, the feeling I get when I think about actually being able to help someone, hands-on, entrusted to be apart of a team that DIRECTLY heals a person. Man, that feeling there is what gets me through my bad days. THAT feeling is my drive. Find your drive and you'll never doubt your decision again. Sure, you may question things but you won't have doubt. Or maybe I'm just a newbie idealist like the others say...
  15. Congrats to everyone! I'm so glad that y'all got it in and I'm excited for you to start this wonderful journey!! Speaking of, has anyone thought about which stethoscope they might get? More to the point, has any one considered the Bjorn Hall stethoscope? I've been doing research about equipment that I'd need to get once it's my turn to apply (fingers crossed for next Spring!) and I've been hoping to get more input about this particular item...
  16. I'm sure you'll do great! But IF you need to reapply, that's a pretty good plan...
  17. OH! I didn't use the What-If Report for that image. I got it from the Registration part in MySPC, as if I was going to sign up for NUR 1021C
  18. Is the image not showing up?
  19. they do have the classes listed for Spring 2021. please see below:

  21. I'm not quite the same age (nearly 34 now) but I'm also taking care of prereqs in prep for nursing school. The program I'll be applying to will actually have us work as Nursing Assistants at the hospital where we'll do our clinicals (it's part of a partnership between the hospital system I work for and the nursing school I'm planning on attending) so I know it's possible...
  22. Sounds like maybe RN Case Manager may be a position you'd like
  23. well obviously you couldn't take A&P 1 & 2 together.... what type of chem, psych, and math are those classes? I'm not familiar with your school's nomenclature
  24. I know this is probably a long shot but here goes. This post is for pre-nursing students that plan on applying to St Pete College for the ASN program starting in the 2022-2023 school year. So if you attend SPC for your prereqs or maybe you’re taking prereqs somewhere else but plan on applying to SPC for either the Fall ’22 or the Spring ’23 Cohorts, then you’re in the right place. My hope is to be able to network prior to the month we all start to apply for the program (contrary to most of the SPC ASN program threads on here). That way, not only can we support and help each other, but we can keep each other on our toes because, let’s face it, we’re all competing for a spot. My thinking is, despite the natural competition, we few that are here supporting & helping each other would stand a greater chance of getting in since we have this support system of people that are in the same situation that understand EXACTLY what the others are going through. Perhaps this is too lofty a goal but I genuinely believe that banding together now could only help up all complete our mutual goals: getting the RN and becoming nurses.
