  1. I do not, if I could get your email that would be great. I would love to discuss this with you!
  2. Hey DaisyRN2003, is there any possible way I could message or email you in regards to your situation? I am currently on probation and have tested positive, I’m so lost on what to do. Do they immediately take away your license? I was fired so I can’t work anyways. But I didn’t know if the board waited until the next board meeting to give me my order or they punished you immediately.
  3. Hey Bianca0206, ADN. I wanted to ask if there was any way I could email you to discuss an issue similar to yours. I’ve been on probation since November of 2020. I finally found a job and they randomly said I was positive for marijuana in a random drug test. I absolutely never took marijuana but they still fired me and reported that to the board. At this point, I will be in violation with the board if there’s not another way to prove my innocence. My question is also, once the board knows you were fired and you had a positive drug test...do they automatically take your license away? Do they wait until the next board meeting to give you a new consent order? Please, I could use any help I could get
  4. Hey guys, Does anyone know what option 1 urine is for quest labs? It’s 32 dollars. So I’m assuming because of that cost it’s not testing for the kitchen sink. But just curious to know what it is.
  5. Thanks for the feedback guys! May I ask you both how much did drug screens cost on average? Just so I can prepare budget wise.
  6. I have entered a probation with monitoring agreement with the board of nursing. I am to have random drug testing for a year including possible hair testing. The board uses Affinity testing. Do they usually do hair tests first thing when you start? I would assume they wouldn’t because obviously I would have had meds/alcohol in my system. Would they require hair testing towards the end to ensure compliance? Not sure how ‘random’ these tests are.
  7. Okay guys, thank you ALL again for your input and feedback, it is greatly appreciated. You guys didn't have to spend the time to do so. I just received an order from the board. They are recommending a 12 month probation. My license remains active, I do have to work at least part time the entire time of the probation. My employers and school has to know. I will be submitted to random drug testing, have to pay a small fine, and take two online educational classes on proper documentation/safety, etc. I can travel outside to work, but the board has to approve it first. All prescriptions have to go through one doctor/dentist. The only setback is my school has to know, Im already in a program but the school does require an unencumbered license. I don't know what to do about that at this point. Also, it will be public record. But quick question, once I satisfy all probation requirements, will they remove the mark on my license? or is forever?
  8. Thanks for your input!! May I ask what happened in your case? Did you just get probation? Am wondering what’ll happen to me..
  9. Hello, I am a fellow nurse who has been accused of drug abuse/diversion and failure to document controlled substances correctly. Diversion and abuse is not true at all, I have even taken drug tests on my behalf and they have been negative just to prove to my former employer and the board. However, I cannot rule out diversion. And I did not document and scan meds like I should have, especially PRN meds, which a lot of times were controlled. I was reported to the board. I have a board hearing with the nurse consultant in a few days. I wanted to get some feedback on some similar situations regarding this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I so badly want to join the monitoring program in my state, even though I do not have a problem with abuse, only because I would not be on probation and therefore have an encumbered license. I however went the investigative route, and am wondering if I can change course and self report/sign up to the monitoring program, or is it too late? PLEASE HELP!
  10. I totally understand your situation. I would hate to do a monitoring contract for that many years. However, I am in school and they require an unencumbered license. If I get a mark in my license and it becomes encumbered. I’m screwed. That is the only reason I’m even considering a monitoring program because at least then my license won’t be affected. Ughh
  11. WorriedNurseinAL, Hello. I am on a similar path with you. I have been accused of diverting and misdocumeting. I was not always scanning PRN meds, which included narcotics. One shift I didn't scan at all. And theyre saying Im giving too many pain meds. I am wondering what to do, would you please inform me a little bit about your process? Email is fine too. Was the probation on your record. Any input would be much appreciated!
  12. I have tried inboxing people, it says I am not allowed to do messages yet. Could I email you?
  13. They reported me to the BON after I self reported, they did allow me to do that at least. The board hasn't officially contacted me, except sent a letter in the mail stating a case has been opened and is under investigation. The investigator did say that I had the option to do my state's version of TNPAP, if I admitted to a "problem". I don't have a problem, have never used or abused. Have never diverted. I even took drug screens to prove it, but obviously can't prove I didn't divert. Investigator said if I'm innocent, go the investigative route, however I am really afraid I might have a restricted license, or be on probation. At least with the TNPAP, I won't have a public record of it, and my license is intact. However, it may open up a new can of worms with that program.
  14. Hey guys. I am a RN of 10 years working in ICUs across the country. My last job was in med-telemetry. I was reported to HR for not scanning narcotics in the EMR as well as giving too many during a shift without documenting them correctly. I was accused of drug abuse, drug diversion, and not administering narcotics correctly and appropriately. I took a drug screen and was negative, but can't prove I did not divert them. I was ultimately fired and reported to the board. I did self report but now am trying to weigh my options. I know I didn't take anything or have abuse issues, but the program in my state would allow me to do the voluntary monitoring program where I would be monitored 3-5 years but I would have to admit to having a problem. However my license would be safe. Otherwise, I can fight for my innocence and go the investigative route, and have them discipline me accordingly. I just would hate to have my license suspended/or restricted, even encumbered. I would like to start school in the near year or so, and would hate for this to restrict me in any way. Im just trying to weigh my options. Please HELP!!
  15. DistressedRN, hello. I am a RN who is recently now under investigation for suspected narcotics diversion and basically administering too many narcotics, as well as failure to document those narcotics. I am innocent in drug abuse and diversion. Honestly. I have personally taken a urine drug screen the day I got fired after they refused to allow me to take one. I just took another UDS. Could I please email you to discuss this further? I am weighing my options to either do the drug monitoring program ( I know I haven't taken anything, but at least my license is safe with this) or go the investigative route and hope they don't discipline me or make my license unencumbered. I would really appreciate any personal feedback you have. thanks in advance.
  16. Thank you so much, I have emailed you. I appreciate you guys so much for responding.
  17. Is there any way I could get an update on this? I am almost exactly in the same shoes you were in. Did they require a hair test? Did you just get probation? I have so many questions. Is there any way we could communicate via email? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thank you
