Dang girl! You have so many certifications! haha. This is just my opinion but I suggest maybe using a template with color or something to help it stand out :). Recruiters look through these so fast that maybe it could help. I live in SoCal and I'm also a recent new grad with BSN. I had an interview with the hospital I had my practicum on and didn't get it. I graduated in March, took NCLEX at the end of April and started searching for jobs and applied to numerous new grad programs and any hospital that didn't require experience with no response back. I finally decided to accept a SNF job for now and am luckily they have a short term unit so there is opportunity for more skills. I'm hoping this will help me put some RN experience on my plate since most new grad programs accept up to a year of experience. If not, I'll probably try to get into LTACH or outpatient surgery center or something. I don't want to move out of state to be honest. Everyone I talked to basically said it takes time... like 6-8 months or longer to find an acute care job and especially with covid no one wants to train ?. Kinda just depends what you wanna do while you're looking. Best of luck ?

Yes I do know that traveling somewhere else would probably help. I took the snf job and I'm going to continue to apply to new grad programs and get my acls and see what happens. My dream is to work peds, or even mom/baby inpatient. If I have to do it the long way by maybe getting outpatient surgery clinics or LTACH to get me into the hospital later on, then I will. I guess we'll see what happens... that's what career development is about right? haha. thank you for the advice ?

Hi there, I know this is old, but where did you find the new grad program? I want to try to get into one but there are no updated dates on their website for when cohorts are or application periods are?

Thanks everyone for the responses! I have decided to take the position with a snf/short term rehab center to gain experience. I will continue to apply for new grad residencies as they come up and hope this in addition to getting my acls will give me more of an edge. If not, I will probably try to transition to either LTACH or outpatient surgical center to get more "acute" experience.

Hi there, I'm a new grad nurse but I live in San Diego. Have you looked into Palomar Health? Also some other ones you might try may include Alvarado Hospital or Paradise Valley Hospital. These are not huge named ones but it may help you get more experience while waiting for one of those. ?

Hi, New grad RN in SoCal trying to find a job in a hospital. During school I focused on my studies and volunteer work. Obviously I am getting beat out by applicants to new grad residency programs because others have CNA, tech, or student nurse experience etc etc. I have heard mixed reviews of working at snf or sub acute/rehab as experience for a hospital job. What are your thoughts on this? I am currently unemployed and debating if I should get a snf job while continuing to apply to new grad programs and get my ACLS. Do you think this will help? I have a Kaiser recruiter contact who told me that they won't consider it as experience so what do I do? Continue to wait and apply? Or get a job that may or may not help even though I will hate it. Haha.

Has anyones application status changed? I'm sure that the on demand interviews will come once the recruiter starts going through apps.. I know it's hard to be patient haha
