  1. I recommend to all that haven't received a decision to reach out. I assumed that I didn't get in because of that. My voicemail was full and I slipped through the cracks somehow (understandably because of COVID). I later got the call ? . To those that are bound for other opportunities, know that your worth is not based on this admission. Exploit the privileges you STILL have; make big money, travel, enjoy time with family, (make TikToks?). I do, however, hope to meet you all eventually.
  2. Do you guys want to start a facebook group for our cohort?
  3. Sure. GPA: 3.7+ Average 3 years ICU, 8 years RN total at time of application 5 Board certs charge, precept, etc Department and hospital committees: 5+ volunteer work (in and out of health care) no research experience Attendance of annual SRNA seminars from local universities. GRE 307 ish In my opinion, my academic record is not stellar or highly competitive. I think my experience and all the extra achievements outside academia were my redeeming qualities. Interview was online and questions were typical of anesthesia programs. I’d rather not comment on the lay out as it may change for you. But in general, I found the faculty to be professional and kind, and the flow to be well structured . You also get to talk to current students. Be ready to elaborate on your potential DNP Project. Why anesthesia. Why Pitt. Be your best and true self.
  4. Thanks. The program starts January, Spring semester. Once accepted there is an option to take classes early, which are off loaded from the DNP nurse anesthesia curriculum. There is no separate application. There is no option to be part time while actually in the program. Keep in mind that processes may change, and my experience may not reflect yours. Send me a DM if you have any specific questions.
  5. Hi Paul and Ana, I'm Andy and I am a current part-time student at Pitt and will be joining the 2022 cohort. I wish you all the best of luck.
  6. Anyone know any information regarding part-time study?
  7. Yes, January this year. 305.
  8. Hello everyone! Cancelled my interview today after accepting an offer from a different school. PS Mairelys is a godsent!
  9. Hello everyone! Waitlisted for Richmond, but just accepted a spot in a different program. Good luck and stay motivated.
  10. Hi! I would think reaching out is acceptable. I submitted the NursingCAS application mid May as well and received a phone call perhaps the last few days of May. I believe they are accepting applications until November 1st. It might be beneficial to ask what can you do now until then to strengthen your application, IF they are not considering you for an early interview at this time. ----------------------------- Also, I'd love to connect with others who are joining the class of 2024, especially the Hollywood crew. Good luck everyone!
  11. Congratulations to everyone who made it! You deserved it!
  12. That sounds reassuring. I’ve been asked to stick around as the ICU nurse educator and have no idea if this possible if I were to get in.
  13. Not quite sure, but from what I’ve seen so far points towards efficiency. I won’t be surprised if we’re notified by next week. On a different note, any thoughts on working the first year?
  14. Hello from Detroit! I finished it yesterday. Questions were fairly straightforward, but I rambled, fumbled, and mumbled. I kind of got too obsessed with the details; lighting, background, and acoustics, etc. For me it was more nerve-racking than a face-to-face, because I'm my worst critic and seeing myself on the screen gives me more to judge. If you're like me, consider covering the portion of the screen to avoid looking at yourself, but still be able to visualize the timer. Practice speaking in front of the camera, but it is not the same until you actually do it. It may also be helpful to have reminders around to breathe, calm down, and focus on items you want to highlight. Also, if you're like me who gets into tangents and like to tell stories, be very aware of the timer. The last half seems to go much quicker than the first. Regardless, I'm impressed with the effort they put into the digital interview. The introduction was kind and reassuring, and confirms what you hear about VCU. I hope to meet you guys in the future.
