Heads up experienced nurses...What drives you nuts about GN's?....be brutally honest!
Hello to everyone in this forum! I passed my NCLEX three weeks ago. I am so excited to start my first thread in the "First year of nursing" insted of the "nursing student" forum! I just finished my third day of work and I just wanted to ask all of you experienced nurses what you think I should do or not do during my orientation. I also want to know what things a GN could do/or have done that drove you nuts! I am asking this because I think that I am annoying my preceptor a bit.:uhoh21: I want her to like me so bad because I am with her everyday for 2 months. Any advise, short or long would be MOST appreciated! Please be honest, I promise I won't be offended! Jamie

Question for those who passed the NCLEX, regarding performance on practice exams...
Hey there K! It is not the overall score that counts. If you are looking at the KAPLAN test scores, look at the section of the test analysis that deals with BLOOMS TAXONOMY. Then look at the scores in the APPLICATION and ANALYSIS. These are the harder questions; the kind you need to get %50 correct to pass the NCLEX. KAPLAN says that if you get 65% correct on these application/analysis you are in good shape to take the NCLEX. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions :) Jamie

Kaplan???
KAPLAN is the way to go!! I just took my NCLEX on friday and PASSED it with only 75 questions!! I took it with five girls I graduated with and they passed it with only 75 questions also. KAPLAN was harder than the NCLEX. KAPLAN acutally offers a first time pass money back guarantee and believe me, they are not in the buisness to give people their money back!! Trust me, KAPLAN is the way to go! Jamie

It's Been 48 Hours!!!!!
Hey motor cycle mama!! I just found out that I passed! I know that we talked and you said that you had a bunch of priority Q's like, who would you see FIRST or which is ESSENTIAL to follow up on. If you got really, really, hard questions than I would bet the bank that you Passed!! If you were doing poorly at 75 questions the computer would have given youa string of easier questions to help bring you back up to the line of competency. I have faith that you passed! Hope you find out soon!! Jamie

Took NCLEX this morning!!Waiting in Agony!!
This morning I took the NCLEX! The computer shut off at 75 questions! The last 10 or so questions I had were "who would you see FIRST" or "it would be Essential for the nurse to do what." They were really hard. I am so nervous because I know that I got the last question wrong. I have taken the full KAPLAN course and did well in nursing school. Do any of you have experience with 75 questions pass/fail? Thank you guys sooo much, I know that your feedback will make me feel better.

Advise for new grad. What questions should I ask?
Hello all, I have my first interview as a graduate nurse on Monday 9-06 and I want to know if there are some questions that I should be asking my potential employer. Some of the questions I have already thougth of are: -What is the employee turnover/satisfaction on this floor.. -What kind of education/career advancement does this hospital offer? -What kind of unit orientation does a new graduate receive? -scheduling, vacation, sick time, etc.... If any of you can think of other questions I should ask my potential employer please let me know. I want to look professional and prepared. Thank you so much for you response and advise. Jamie
