  1. there is something wrong with it! Told her that too and its the last time she gets lucky! Car and insurance are in her name now! No more free rides on mine!
  2. HI am new here! have read many of these threads and most are funny as hell or educational! As Er nurses we have seen it all, the mutiple forms of human stupidity and its results! But every once in a while you get a pt that was just so sweet that you will never forget them...we all remember the bad ones! This was mine Parents brought in their six year old son, seems he was playing w/ big brother. They had gotten a hold of moms embroidery sissciors and kiddo was running with them...yeh he fell on em and embedded them into the left side of his chest..buried em to the hilt! kid pulled them out big bro tol;d mom and off they go to see us, parents were upset...duh.. but very reasonable and nice but spoke limited english..kids did and were traslating! ok so kid is now on moniter, I started his IV and this cute little guy sat so very still and said to himself over and over..I am a big boy and I can do this..he didnt move one little bit as i poked him. Ist xray neg for pnumo but he still has a 6 hour obs stay and repeat xray to go before he can go home. Now after 15 min most kids..mine included..would have been climbing the walls! Not this little guy he sat on his bed did not play with the monitor, call light, nothing was just as sweet and quiet as could be said please and thank you...parents were just as nice! By the end of those 6 hours I had raided every stash of toys, books ect we had, even had the peds floor tube me stuff! Even in the best of conditions I have never seen a better behaved kid or family! Not once did they co about anything! kid by some miracle missed his lung and anything else vital and went home. For the many pieces of human garbage we see pts like that make your day/month/year!
  3. Yes you can live without him! throwing your self into the back of his truck will not make him stay! PLEASE for the love of god get your tubes tied! you are 3 months pregnant, nausea and vomiting can happen it is normal, vomiting only once first thing in the morning does not mean you are dehydrated stupid is as stupid does, think before you say..hey ya all...watch this! you are 50 learing to skateboard drunk IS NOT a good idea at your age GET OUT OF MY ER AND GET A LIFE!
  4. I have been doing this too long! when the PD pulls your 18 yr old daughter over for 80 in a 50 looks at the registration sees your name on it asks if she is your daughter and then says tell your mom hi and lets her go!
  5. scariest moment in er....hmmm guy mid 40 comes inw/ cp mild with some l arm numbness well we did the standaerd work up iv labs ekg ect ekg boderline maybe slight st depression we had nothing to compare it to. CP better w/ sl nitro so doc orders 5 mic nitro gtt.maybe 5 to 10 min after we start the drip he calls and says he feels funny he is now pale sweating like crazy and all of a sudden passes out and bradys down into the 20"s...oh crap! we stop nitro and doc orders atrpine. pt is now awake pulse is 90 to 100 and now he has severe crushing classic chest pain repeat ekg looks text book for massive MI tombstones and all! Thank god the cath lad was open! he was there in 10 min flat! the cardiolgist shwed me the pics later complete rca and a few others I dont now remember were blocked! I had heard what even low dose nitro could do in a right side MI but till that day had never seen it!
  6. ok heres a good one. it is a family name from one of the local indian tribes...big family too! Thought they were playing with me when I first saw it...last name of...EveryBodyTalksAbout...spelled just that way caps and all!
  7. I am lucky, my primary doc is cool and listens to me about me and my kids..not so lucky if i end up w/ student the day we come in..had made irate calls to office later! I do try not to play nurse card when in er..its hard cause live in small area and i float to most of the hospitals and most of them know me anyway! I do multiple specialites...lesson learned there as I do IV therpy and ER nurse so nervous when she started my line she blew it three times! and I have garden hoses for veins, you couldnt miss with a 14 gauge!...lol I just smiled at her and told her it was fine, we all miss from time to time!
  8. LMAO sitting here laughing...family thinks Ive lost it! Ok so here are some of mine mom calls 911 for diaper rash, 6 pm firday night have seen her doc it turns out 4 times this week but is not happy with the 4 different creams they have given her for the baby...and we are going to do what??????? In triage...I snorted coke, the left side of my face is numb, am i having a stroke?....and this buys you a 900.00$ ct scan on the taxpayers! and of course the belly/back/neck/headace/gen body aches I have had for years/months/weeks but now for reasons known only to god is an emergency! and my fav...not to nursing home bash...have been there worked way to hard! pt brought in beacuse he started vomiting, with ngt in place, tip of tube is now comming out of mouth...so picture pt w/ tube still taped to nose still in nose, but tip is now hanging out of mouth.....now why may I ask could the nursing staff not remove tube, and then replace it? Basic nursing skills here! It is what i did! did not even take pt off gurney, turned him back around in the time it took to print d/c instructions...if tube comes out put back in!
  9. LOL ok we have the porch score....I was just sitting on my porch and minding my own bussiness.....fill in the blank...stabbing, gunshot wound, whatever! points for tattos missing teeth, beers consumed, and number of freinds hanging out with them. and...p&p...pregnant and puking! dont ya just love em!
